I wasn't going to do this at first. But I felt that it was a bit of a waste to just trash it after all the effort.

So, I'll be posting the drabbles I've written for the HPFC's forum-wide anon drabble fest. This is the first one. The prompts were 'colours' and 'celebration'.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

All around her was beauty – a myriad of colours and glitter and joy. Sparkling tinsel and ornaments that shimmered in every imaginable colour decorated the Christmas tree, and joyful, laughing people were everywhere.

But even in her new dress that'd looked so pretty on the mannequin, she felt ugly – too ugly for this joyous celebration, too ugly for this gathering of didn't belong to this celebration – she was a stranger amidst the merriness and joy. And even as she watched, Victoire, her beautiful cousin whom she loved and yet hated, leaned forward to kiss the boy they both loved. Victoire'd always wanted a Christmas wedding, and she'd gotten her wish.

Lily didn't find it fair that Victoire, the girl who'd been like a sister to her, could have her fairytale ending – but she, Lily, had to have her heart broken yet again.

And all she could do was hope that one day, she'd meet someone who would look at her the way Teddy, her first, unrequited love, looked at Victoire – someone who would fix up her heart and sweep her off her feet.

Because Lily had always believed in love, and always would.
