Summary Admiral chegwidden receives unsettling news about an old friend.
Authors notes I have no idea at what age SeALs become non operational. If anyone does please drop me a line. Therefore Master Chief is the same age as in the movie. Played by the yummy Viggo Mortensen.
JAG parking area October 1st 1801hrs
"SIR! SIR! …Admiral Chegwidden sir! Wait sir!" Petty Officer Jennifer Coates urgently yelled across the busy parking area infront of the elegant Jag building.
The tall commanding figure and his two younger companions turned from their chosen path to watch the young woman scuttle deftly between the various vehicles to reach them.
"Sorry to have…to interrupt your departure sir," the harried officer began as she reached them. "But the ambassador was very insistent and…"
"Coates! What damn ambassador?" Admiral A.J. Chegwidden demanded sourly. All he really wanted to do was to get home and spend the evening with a good book and an even better malt. It had been a very long day.
"That would be the New Zealand ambassador sir. He stated that his message should be delivered to you as soon as, sir," Coates replied calmly used to the Admirals gruffness by now.
The Admiral companions, Commander Harmon Rabb jnr and Colonel Sarah Mackenzie noticed the immediate change in the face and stance at the petty officers words. Both knew that not a lot got inside this mans formidable walls, but for some reason this news did.
"Well?" he demanded loudly his back ramrod straight, his face tense.
"The message was—She's on her way back, and her partner is AWOL."
"Hell's fire! Did he at least give her eta?" he demanded glancing anxiously at his watch
"No sir I am afraid he didn't," Coates replied slightly bemused and very intrigued.
"Very well,"he muttered to himself as he began to retrace his path back to the graceful red stone building that housed his offices.
He was unaware that Mac and Rabb had followed in his wake until they signed in with the ever-present Security detail. He said nothing about their present, but inside he acknowledged that he was glad of their presence as they continued onto the vacant elevator.
Mac and Rabb exchanged a worried glance as they followed behind their boss. Both the officers knew that to shake the tough ex-SeAL this had to be major crisis or very personal. Or both.
In either case both officers were exactly where they needed to be. Either side of Admiral A.J. Chegwidden.
As the elevator doors closed the tense man began to speak.
"Coates I want everything, including present location if possible of one Master Chief John James Urgayle. The last post I'm sure of is NavSpecWar- Gru Two located in Florida Annexe. He was involved with the SeAL CRT Programme."
The young petty officer replied smartly showing no trepidation about the enormity of her assigned task, as they exited on their floor.
"Yes sir. Right on it sir."
Harm looked at Mac and mouthed one word.
"SeALs!"
