A/N: This is the second fanfic I've posted on here, but my first Glee fic. I know it's not very good, but um, be nice? And please review :)
Will Schuester doesn't love Rachel Berry. She's simply an escape from the stress of his overly-demanding pregnant wife. He doesn't know how it started. He doesn't know why it started. All he knows is that now, it's happening. He loves his wife, he truly does. But she doesn't have the soft, angelic features. The sweet, innocent laugh. The beautiful, powerful voice. Or the gentle touch of Rachel Berry. He made sure she knew, as soon as this began. He has no intention of leaving his wife. Not with a baby on the way, no chance. She just laughed that adorable laugh of hers and dismissed it with a "we'll see".
When Rachel developed that crush on him, he quickly made the decision to rebuff her advances. He never once considered that this time could be different, that Rachel Berry could be special. He was used to the same pattern. An impressionable, naive student falls in "love" with him. He breaks their heart, and life goes on. Will can't figure out why this time around, it isn't following that pattern.
Rachel Berry is not an idiot. Even she can tell, when his wife calls him. She can see the tension. She knows that every sigh, every eye-roll, and every angry hang-up is a point for her side. Rachel Berry is sixteen years old. She is nothing like Will's wife at that age. Mrs. Schuester experimented with makeup, diets. Anything to make herself pretty. Will would assure her everyday that none of this was necessary. She was his angel, perfect in every way. Now, that angel's halo is dimming, wings fading. Will tries to see through her new facade to the girl she once was, but it's getting harder everyday. Rachel Berry, on the other hand, as her signature gold star suggests, shines bright.
Will knows what the others think of Rachel. She's cocky, self-centered, arrogant. Will prefers to see it as confidence. She has no fear. The fact that she has taken up with a married man, with a pregnant wife he intends to spend the rest of his life with, does not faze her even a bit. This is because she knows she can change that. Who would choose a pregnant old cow over a beautiful, future celebrity? She knows he can't resist her.
But Will Schuester will try. Because no matter what she says, he does not love Rachel Berry.
