Paranormal Investigations
I will admit that when I first thought it up, Paranormal Investigations was only a bit of a lark; a way to occupy my time after school till my mom could pick me up and another activity I could list on the all-important high school resume. I once read in Fiske's that the more unique your admission, the more likely it is to stand out amongst all the other applicants. With my sights firmly set on Brown (backups being Vassar and Harvard, of course) and already knowing that I wasn't going to be making any varsity athletic teams, it was up to my scholastic achievements and extra-curricular activities to wow any potential college admission boards. I thought that being co-founder and president of a high school mystery solving club would certainly be a good way to make myself stand out from all the other similar over-achievers.
I could have never predicted the way everything would turn out – and in retrospect, I wouldn't change a single thing at all.
What follows is a true story. While my own personal experience and emotions may color my retelling of it somewhat, I will do my best to relay the facts in the exact sequence and nature in which they occurred.
