AN: Companion piece to "Standing at the Edge of the World"

It was not what I Remembered. No lush green fields, no sparkling blue water and no gleaming cities. It was death, rubble, and emptiness. Had I led them to this? This was what we fought for and labored? How the gods had failed me! Or maybe I was the failure. Maybe the hybrid was right and I had led them to their destruction.

Maybe they were right and I'd imagined it all. One beautiful dream transformed into a living nightmare. Maybe I am a cylon. It could al be programming and transplanted memories. None of this was real. It had all happened before and it would all happen again. I wonder when the reset will come.

I can feel them watching me. Surprise, disgust, and fury radiate from their faces. I can almost hear the questions they want to ask. Instinct says to run. The frenzy that pursued me across the stars was gone now. The all-consuming need to find, to seek had left when my feet touched this forsaken soil.

I know it wouldn't be long until shock gave way and the questioning began. My time on this island of solitude was always to be limited. I hear the heavy marine boots crunch on the rocky soil. I was silently herded back to the transport. I catch the eyes of the Old Man, Roslin, and my husband. There was no chance for redemption. No last minute reprieve this time. This is the end of the road, I can feel it in my bones.
