First proper fanfic woohoo! Major thanks to friends (Amy, Lizzie, Chloe etc) and to inspiration (hannahncakes, gidget89 etc). Hope you enjoy!
Rose Tyler doesn't live for him anymore. She understands that they couldn't travel together forever; species apart; worlds apart.
She still misses him of course but she has John now. John Smith, after all she is Mrs Rose Smith, working hard on her job and really living. They are very similar, him and John; both clever, excitable and brilliant. But now she appreciates their differences too. How human John is. It has almost become some sort of a paradox; she couldn't have loved John so much without loving him, but now she loves John more than she ever loved him.
She will always love him but she loves John more and she is so happy now. She thanks him for teaching her how to love and how to really live. She wishes him the best of life too.
Martha Jones doesn't love him anymore. She understands that they were too different and that he, simply didn't love her like that.
She still misses him of course but she is married now, to Mickey Smith of all people, after all she is Dr Martha Smith-Jones working as a medic and a freelance alien hunter and loving every second. They work together, Smith and Jones. Still hunting aliens; still saving the planet; still running a lot. Safe in the knowledge that, wherever he is, the Doctor is proud of her and respects her.
She would like to see him again but she just thinks of him as an old friend and she is so happy now. She thanks him for teaching her perseverance and the art of getting up when knocked down. She wishes that he will find someone to love too.
Donna Noble doesn't remember him anymore. She knows that she is forgetting something but she has no idea what it is.
She would miss him, of course, but she has a proper job now (and is fantastic at it), after all she is Ms Donna Noble – temp no longer but chairman with a great memory for detail and the voice of blunt reason. The new confidence in herself and her abilities (which seemed to develop overnight) gives her a real gravitas which means that, whatever she's saying, everyone listens. She vaguely remembers a friend who used to listen to her, but he is now lost in the mists of time.
She would like to know what she's missing but she doesn't need it, and she's so happy now. She would thank him for giving her confidence in herself and some peace. She wishes that he, whoever he is, finds peace too.
Amy Pond doesn't wait for him anymore. She understands that the adventures could only really end in tragedy and that she doesn't need danger to live anymore.
She still misses him, of course, (and for the first time blames her Scottish heritage for the difficulty she had when she needed to 'Keep calm and carry on') but she has all she needs now, after all she is Mrs Amy Williams, model, perfumer (or Nose – a title which she is sure he would appreciate) and the girl who gets up and makes things happen. She has everything in Rory; wonderful, fantastic, beautiful Rory. In the choice between danger with her Raggedy Doctor and a life with her husband Rory, however mundane it can sometimes be, she will always pick Rory. Time and time and time again.
She would like her imaginary friend to visit (bringing her daughter too, come to that) but she doesn't wait for him, and she is so happy now. She thanks him for teaching her not only patience but how to prioritise and choose what she really needs. She wishes him patience for everything that is coming, too.
Reveiw please, hope you liked it.
