The ending scenes of The Phantom of The Opera inspired this poem. It is from the point of view of Christine.

Tears of hate roll down my face

As the man who loves me threatens the one I love

My teacher, my guide, my angel

Was deceiving me.

To save the one I love

I must spend eternity with this monster I called Angel

If I refuse this monster

I send my lover to his grave

Understanding and pity fills my heart

This monster is just a wounded Angel

He only wants my love

He only wants me

I choose to spend my life with him

Not for my lover's sake

For my sake

For I am just like this Angel

I kiss him

A kiss filled with passion and love

A look of surprise

Crosses his face

He chooses to set me free

This Angel of mine

And as I untie my lover

I hear the Angel cry

As I turn to say goodbye

Black tears of grief

Fall down his face

As he tells me he loves me

I get into the boat

Which holds my other lover

As we leave

I hear the Angel sing

And I know

I will never forget

The black tears

Of his
