A Couple of Losers

Todd walked into Rodi's and saw Blair sitting at the bar. She had lined up a row of shot glasses and one by one she was knocking them back. "Rough day?" Todd asked as he sat down next to Blair.

"The worst. I've once again made a mess of things. Sit down and let me tell you how I'm the biggest loser that this town has ever seen."

Todd remembered the first time he had laid eyes on Blair Cramer. It was at this very bar that they initiated themselves into the "Biggest Loser's Club." "Now I thought we settled this years ago. I have the title for Biggest Loser and I won't give it up for just any sob story, so tell me,
what makes you a bigger loser than yours truly."

"I found out that Eli killed Melinda and is the one who pushed Marty Saybrook down the stairs. Apparently Eli's been married several times before and all of the women he was married too disappeared. Melinda figured out that he was a wanted man so she was planning on warning me about him when Eli shut her up."

"And Marty? Why would he push Marty down the stairs?"

"To get back at John for helping Kelly with her mother's investigation."

"It seems to me that Eli is the loser, not you."

"Yeah, but I'm the one who fell for his lies. I loved him and I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him."

"I'm sorry that he hurt you. I really am, but I'm sorry that's just not enough for me to give up my title especially after the latest mess I made with Tea," Todd said as he grabbed a shot glass and poured it down his throat.

"What's going on with you and Tea?"

"Tea left me."

"What did you do?"

"I walked in on Dani and Nate about to have sex and I lost it. I started beating Nate. Tea and Dani were yelling at me to stop and I just couldn't. All I could see was red, Tea tried to pull me off of Nate and I knocked her to the ground. I stopped hitting Nate and I left to calm myself down. When I went back to the house they were gone. They took all their things and they left me, so you see, I'm still the biggest loser."

"Tea will be back."

"How can you be so sure?" Todd asked.

"You're a hard guy to get over. Trust me I know."

Todd leaned over and kissed Blair. "Thanks for being here. I really needed a friend tonight. Come on, let's go my driver will give us a ride home."

"I have my car."

"You can get it in the morning. You've had too much to drink."

"You're probably right, let's go." Blair said as she grabbed Todd's hand and headed for the exit.

The next morning Blair woke up with a splitting headache. It didn't help matters when she realized that she wasn't in her bed but was sleeping next to Todd. The last thing that she remembered was commiserating with Todd at the bar the night before. "Todd, wake up," Blair said.

"What do you want?" Todd mumbled as he tried to shake off the drowsiness.

"What happened last night?"

"We got drunk."

"I know that, but how did I end up in bed with you? We didn't-"

"Have sex," Todd interrupted Blair. "No, we didn't have sex. Give me some credit. You were wasted. I wouldn't take advantage of you in that situation."

"So why didn't I go home last night?"

"By the time we got to La Boulaie you were already passed out. I didn't want the kids to see you that way so I took you back here."

"Thanks, I better get going," Blair stated as she climbed out of bed and headed towards the door.

"Wait, thanks for last night. I was having a rough night, but spending time with you made things bearable."

"You're welcome; I'm always going to be there for you Todd. After all us losers have to stick together," Blair said as she shut the door behind her.
