Title: Afterthought
Pairing: Kamio/Shinji
**
He didn't mind the soft, dark hair lightly matted across his shoulder, or the warm weight that was nestled on his side. He liked doing this, even though it only occurred once in a long while. It created a sense of peace within him. Not like he'd ever admit that to anyone. But there, in the chill of November, in his room with the warmth of body heat under the cotton covers, he thought he could allow himself to think like that. Just this once, before going back to face the real world and it's harsh misconceptions and social rules.
He just wanted to stay like this for a while, snuggled up under feather light sheets and tangled beneath his friend, who warmed him up despite the chill outside of the covers.
There was a shift in movement and the cool air touched his side where his friend's head was once resting. He looked down slightly to meet the cool, confused eyes that he'd seen so expressive only minutes ago. The tiny strands of hair tickled and the warm breath almost caused him to shiver.
"Kamio... What time is it?"
Kamio turned his head to face the alarm clock on the bedside table. The red glow burned his eyes a little, but shifted back to his friend and grinned.
"You may as well spend the night. It's past eleven."
A soft mumbling of sentences went past the other's lips, which Kamio could hear, but rather felt like feeling the soft puffs of warm breath on his skin. Instead of wanting to know what the other was saying he gathered his friend up into his arms and nestled his face in the smooth hair, smelling faintly of sweat, but also the scent that totally embodied him.
"Shinji?" Words murmured into the other's hair.
The mumbling stopped for a bit before he replied, "What?"
Kamio almost nuzzled into the other. "Nothing, just good night."
Shinji smiled faintly. "Good night, Kamio."
