As the sun finally set on the day of America's birthday, his large gathering of countries moved his party out into the front yard.

Large mounds of blankets and pillows were layed out on the large lawn and multiple tables of food and fireworks were set up.

A system was set up for who would light he fireworks and it was decided that it would be passed on to whoever wanted to when the first person got tired of it. Quite the flawless plan, actually.

You spent your time mostly by the side of the birthday boy and your secret crush, America.

Though you hoped it wouldn't be secret for much longer.

Sparklers were always your favorite part of any holiday with fireworks. And as a child, you soon figured out you could use them to write messages into the street.

Once it was time to bring out the sparklers, you were the first one to grab one with America close behind.

Most of the countries stared at you oddly when you immediately took your sparkler to the asphault instead of writing messages in the air. Those who didn't, weren't paying attention.

You finished and went to go lay down on the blankets and wait for more fireworks.

Just as you'd hoped, as soon as you left America bee-lined straight to your message.

"I love you, Alfie. -_"

He stood there for a very long time, staring at it. He didn't even notice when his sparkler died. Or that he had dropped it. He spent such a long time, you began to get nervous, biting your lip.

"_!" he suddenly yelled, turning to face you, "Do you mean it?"

Smiling, you replied, "As if I could lie to the hero!"

He let out his signature laugh and yelled out, "Best birthday ever!"

You shook your head at him and laughed as he ran to you and tackled you in a hug.

"The hero loves you too!" he said, and gave you an excited kiss.

Fireworks resumed after that with you cuddling up to your now boyfriend's chest and him playing with your hair.

Even with the party going on around you two, you still managed to fall asleep in his arms as you mumbled, "Happy birthday, Alfred."
