Lie Ren was smiling one of those rare smiles at Jaune. Pyrrha dabbed at the red sap at her lip (apparently, Nora managed to save just a little for her) and blushed behind the napkin. Jaune Arc was there standing on his bed, his tie and coat thrown off, reenacting his heroic feat of the day.
"And how did you manage to get its attention away from Winchester?" Ren asked. His arms were crossed, and his eyebrows raised. Pyrrha could tell, his trust in their leader's competence was questioned in the beginning, but Ren had held on to his faith in the blond boy.
Jaune smirked, looking at Pyrrha for the briefest of seconds. "Oh, that was easy. I just pulled out my sword and just kept shouting, 'Hey! Are you lookin' for me, sonny?!'"
Pyrrha let out a laugh at that. His voice sounded just like his grandfather's; she has listened in when Jaune was called one rainy afternoon.
"So, so there he was, just swiping at me with those huge mitts, right?" He imitated the ursa's predatory stance, throwing in a comical growl that sent Nora into a fit of giggles. Jaune jumped from his bed to Pyrrha's, slashing at the already-slain foe.
"It was just amazing, my body just moved on its own! It was like my warrior instincts just kicked in at the last minute."
This time, the eye contact wasn't a flicker of a second. Jaune was looking right into her eyes, at her, to gauge her reaction.
"Oh, spirits, he's wondering if he impressed me." She thought, blushing. Pyrrha was; she was so proud of him, too. Jaune Arc had turned from a child playing pretend and sneaking in to make his dream come true, to a strong, cooperative leader of one of the best teams in Beacon Academy. In all of Vytal.
Her lips curved into the sweetest of smiles. "Ozpin was right about making you our leader, Jaune."
She tried her best to hide her grin as she watched him turn bright red, and then attempt to fend off Nora the Ursa with his pillow, who had the unfair advantage of Magnhild. Ren picked her up to try to help his leader.
Pyrrha loved her entire team so much. But Jaune impressed her the most.
Her mother would tell her that she would find someone who she could be proud to call hers.
"I didn't think I'd find them this early."
