Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto
He knew now that he should have never looked. That he should have never followed to investigate the strange things happening out of the corners of his eyes. That was a mistake. That made it aware of him. Even now he could see it in the alley across from his apartment building. The pale face – no eyes – at least he thought so, it got fuzzy the longer he tried to focus on its face.
He wanted to close the curtains now but knew – knew – that it would move closer to him once he did.
It had started simple enough. A mission to the border of the Grass Country, children had been disappearing over the years. The village was poor so it had taken time to gather the funds to request a mission from their country's own village. But something had happened and the chuunin team sent to investigate had vanished, leaving incoherent ramblings scratched into the surrounding areas.
He knew now what they meant.
Circles with "X's" through them.
He can see.
Always watching
He follows
Help Me
He had seen them all.
He shook his head, clearing the memories of the solo mission from his mind. What mattered now was watching the thing outside his apartment.
Terror gripped him as the thing wasn't back at the end of the alley shrouded in shadow anymore. It had moved when he shook his head.
It stood closer to his building, to him. He whimpered.
It wore one of those western suits like Gato had worn complete with the tie. Its head was tilted up towards the window where he peeked between the blinds.
It was incredible tall and too skinny to be human. Its fingers were long and thin like the rest of its body.
It seemed to be grinning.
The next day Sakura had gone to collect him for a mission. She found the apartment in its regular condition save for a small blood stain on the windowsill. She searched the rest of the room but found nothing. She turned to his bedroom and opened the door.
She walked into the room where upon the walls were scratches and drawings.
He's watching
Always
Help Me
Among many more. The drawings were of strange trees that all had a circle near the top. Growing still she glanced out the window, something had moved out of the corner of her eye. She walked back into the living room and pulled a blind down. The only thing she saw was the alley and a strange white circle at the far end.
She stared at it for a while before she got a headache. She shook her head and glanced back. It was gone. She looked at the room again, wondering if it was one of Naruto's pranks before deciding to alert the Hokage.
But why did it feel like something was watching her?
