Brennan sat folded up in her office chair staring at the computer screen intensely. She was trying to write a romance scene between Kathy and Andy since that's what all her fans seemed to love. Her thoughts kept on drifting back to Booth though. Damnit Brennan, he's your partner! You can't harbor feelings for someone you work with! What if the relationship failed? Do you want to risk the strong relationship you've built with the man for a couple kisses and some sweet sex? Besides, he's with Cam, and he can't possibly be interested in you.

"Damnit."

MEANWHILE

Booth sighed. It had been a hard day at work, and seeing as it was midnight, he figured he should probably drag Bones out of the lab and make her get some sleep. He parked his car just outside the steps, and waved to the night security guard as he jogged by. He stopped when he got 10 feet away from Bones' door- a spot where he could watch her perfectly, but she couldn't see him. There she sat, chin resting in hand, concentrating fully on the computer screen in front of her. Must be writing, he thought. He watched her for a couple more minutes before straightening up and sauntering in.

Suddenly, Brennan got the sense that someone was watching her and, looking up, she saw Booth enter her office and collapse in the chair across from her desk.

"Hey Bones. How goes the book?"

"Horrible. I can't think of anything to write."

"Well how about we go to Wong Foo's and brainstorm over some Thai food?" He asked, giving her his best charm smile.

"I'm sure you have better things to do, Booth." She said, not looking at him.

"It's midnight Bones. I have no plans."

She looked up and didn't miss the hopeful look on his face.

"I guess it couldn't hurt." She told him switching of the computer, as she was rewarded with a smile.

3 hours later….

"Booth!!!!"

"I swear to god I did it." He told her laughing along. They had long since finished there meals and had been sharing stories of the past ever since. "Come on, you can't tell me you've never done anything of the sort."

"No, I can't. But that doesn't mean I have to tell you what." She grinned, standing up. "Thanks for the meal Booth, and a great evening."

He got up too, and grabbed his jacket. Glancing at his watch, he groaned.

"I have to wake up in three hours."

"Then we should probably both be getting home." Booth nodded, realizing that her car was still at the Jeffersonian.

"I'll give you a ride, and then pick you up in the morning." He told her, excited for having found an excuse to see his Bones when they didn't have a case.

"Ok." She replied, smiling at him.

When they arrived outside her apartment, Booth jumped out and ran to open her door.

"I know what you're going to say Bones, but just let it go, just this once." Brennan just nodded, and stepped out. Together they walked up to her door.

"I'll see you tomorrow I guess." Brennan said, unlocking her door.

"Bones!"

"Ya?"

He stepped in, so his face was inches from her own, expecting to land across the hall. When no pain came, he risked more. Reaching up, he tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear and leaned in further.

"Thanks for a really great night. And remember, I never have anything better to do, then spend time with you." He placed a kiss in the corner of her lip, and then leaned back.

"Night Bones!" He said over his shoulder as he proceeded down the hall.

Stepping inside her apartment and bolting the door behind her, she leaned back and touched the place his lips had been moments before.

"Night Booth."

5 minutes late, Brennan was climbing into a cab.

"Where to Ma'am?"

"The Jeffersonian Institute, please." She had quickly realized that there was no way she was going to be able to get to sleep, and she now knew exactly what to write for the scene between her two characters. Maybe there is hope for me and Booth yet, she thought, with a true smile on her face.
