Koyuki sat inside the small cabin house with a high fever. It was the winter season and Koyuki got sick. Dororo was with his friends, so Koyuki lay down on her bed mat quietly, by herself. She couldn't fall asleep since she had major headaches, but she couldn't quite stay up either, so she stayed somewhere in the middle. Not quite awake, but not asleep either.
Her head throbbed and Koyuki's hand instinctively flew to her head, massaging it in pain. Why must she have such a low immune system? Sighing, she tried to roll over, but couldn't muster up the strength to move. Ugh.
Last time she checked her temperature was 105 and she had an odd feeling that her it went up from then. She felt so pathetic. What kind of ninja got sick?
Then, there was a sudden knocking at the sliding door. Koyuki stayed perfectly still and quiet. A second set of knocks echoed through the house.
Who could it be? If it were Dororo or one of his fiends they would have just walked in and Natsumi and Fuyuki would have asked to come to the cabin not just show up, so who was it? Not able to hold it in any longer Koyuki began to cough.
"Koyuki-chan?" The voice on the other side of the door questioned. The voice was male and sounded oddly familiar. "Koyuki-chan, it's Mutsumi Saburo. May I come in?"
Pondering for a moment, Koyuki wasn't sure whether or not to let him in. They rarely talked and when they did it was always in the presence of either Dororo or Natsumi. She swallowed harshly and it felt like someone had just slit her throat. Yelping in pain the door slid open with a bang, Saburo's face was flushed and worried. A small embarrassed smile played on his face, as he blushed. Quickly, he kneeled to her side getting close to her and pulled a small vile out of his pocket and rolled back and forth in his palm. Placing it in hers he smiled, "this is an antidote Kururu made for me when I was having a poetry battle with an alien. I recovered fast and never used it." He cut off and looked into her eyes, "I would like you to, okay, and I would like you to use it, to make you feel better." Koyuki froze. She never noticed how handsome Saburo looked, nodding slowly, she didn't have the energy to object and he tipped her head back and poured the contents in very slowly.
Koyuki began to choke. She gasped lightly unable to reach for air. Her arms began to flail forward reaching for help. She felt her heart almost beat out of her chest and wicked questions played in her mind. What if I never taste the sweet taste of air again? Everything began to turn dark.
Then before she knew it, Saburo's lips were on hers, slowly blowing air into her chest. She closed her eyes. This feels nice, she thought to herself lightly. Suddenly she jerked regaining her strength; Saburo pulled back barely and smiled, still close to her. Damn it, she thought to herself, why must my strength come at a time as perfect as this? She felt his breath touch her face and he began to lean in again, before the sliding door opened again, Dororo standing in the door way, looking as shocked as Koyuki felt.
"Mutsumi," he said quietly. "What are you doing to Koyuki?"
Standing up both locked eyes, "I gave her some special medicine that Kururu invented." He smiled and walked towards the door way readjusting his satchel containing a pad of paper and his reality pen, "get well soon Koyuki, I hope to see you at school soon," and with that he left.
Koyuki fell asleep from all the excitement and Dororo headed to the kitchen area to make some tea. "Mutsumi Saburo", he said to himself lightly. "I have to watch out for him."
