To Be a Ninja or Not To Be a Ninja—THAT is the Question

Walking along a suspiciously dangerous and over grown path, the ever loudly obnoxious quarreling of two best-friends-forever, aka Naruto and Sasuke, continued. Their rather loud shouting match continued as the two "grown" men tried to one-up each other with ridiculous insults.

"WELL SAKURA-CHAN IS MINE! SHE LOVES ME MORE THAN YOU!" exclaimed Uzumaki Naruto as he pointed his finger in the air as to make some valid point.

"EH?" snapped Sasuke equally as loud standing only centimeters away from his "best friend". It was quite a feat considering the two men, who miraculously (and I mean miraculously) made it into the ANBU. Their porcelain masks almost touched. "She's been falling head over HEELS on me since the time we were THREE! THREE STINKING YEARS OOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDD." Faint hints of spit left the eye-holes of the mask.

Naruto leaned back a little, "Dude. Say it. Don't spray it."

Sasuke stood there still for a moment.

WHACK!

Naruto's fox mask shattered into a million small pieces revealing the face of a young man no older than his early twenties. "You SLAPPED me!"

The ANBU with the snake mask sat there, but the blond could feel the smirk the Uchiha gave.

SLAP!

Naruto glared as his face became bright red with a big handprint. He turned to the pink medic behind him with a slug mask on, "SAKURA! SASUKE SLAPPED ME!"

Another slap echoed in the night.

Naruto's eyes widened as he looked to the only female in their ANBU squad of four. Sai was nowhere to be found.

"You…" Naruto's lip quivered, "But… but I thought we had something s-special…"

Another slap echoed. "Man up!" hissed Sakura already ticked off that their secret hiding position was compromised.

"But… but…"

Another slap echoed in the area.

Naruto, now starting to completely bruise up black and purple, began to tear ever so slightly from his right eye. His attention turned to the ex-ROOT ANBU. "You too Sai?"

"I felt left out."

Sasuke smirked, "I think I'm beginning to like this dolt."

"SHHH!" commanded the medic as she heard something, "They're coming."

And sure enough, seconds later two civilian boys from the near by Village of Stone causally walked down the path towards their ever growing village, the village Naruto and his ANBU squad were assigned to "spy" on.

As the four ANBU remained silent and in their hiding places among the trees, the two children continued walking until they stared up into the tree. They stood just underneath the now silent ANBU squad.

"What are they doing?" whispered Naruto to Sasuke.

The Uchiha activated his Sharingan ready to read the moves the boys were about to do.

The boys pulled out slingshot and rocks from the ground.

"I don't know," whispered Sasuke desperately trying to predict the boys' movement.

The boys aimed up.

As if in slow motion, Uchiha Sasuke barely dodged the flying rock. His Sharingan, however watched in slow motion as the second rock embedded itself in his "best friends'" forehead.

"AHHHH!" screamed Naruto as he dropped out of the tree like a dead bird. He desperately held his now dented head. "THE PAIN!"

The two young boys looked down at the young adult glaring. They poised their slingshots at the ANBU.

Naruto's eyes widened in horror.
