A note was all he needed. He put on his backpack filled with supplies that would last for three days. Before he left though, he had to leave a note to his best friend; Atrus. He read the note over and over again to make sure it made sense.
Dear J'ovaris,
I believe my theory on linking panels expanding was true. This morning I was trying to find my ink container and pen to write a new age when your age, J'nanin ,"attacked" me. It was frightening so I quickly got my ink and started writing. The note you are reading right now was almost impossible to write. The panel just expanded some more and there is wind now trying to suck me in. I'm being exiled and I don't know what I'll do! Help me J'ovaris. He-
It was frightening at first that his wife was exiled and was trapped. He left a note to Atrus and linked.
Atrus was shocked as he read the letter. "Jovanise! Yeesha! Catherine! Come here!" Catherine came out of the ornate door followed by Yeesha, then Jovanise. Read this letter and tell me what you think of it.
Dear Atrus, Catherine, and Yeesha,
I am going to link to J'nanin and save my wife who has been exiled from D'ni. She is in danger. She was trying to find her ink and pen when the linking panel expanded causing wind to suck her in. I'm scared. I'm going to link now and bring a linking book to Myst with me. I hope I find her soon.

The whole lot gasped. Catherine said in a worried tone of voice, "This is impossible! He can't do this! He'll....he'll..............die."
