"I can't believe I let you talk me into this. You know I hate it here," Severus said stubbornly as Hermione dragged him across the beach, grains of sand stinging his exposed legs as the breeze picked up.

"You're a bit pale," Hermione began but he snatched his hand away and adjusted the bag over his shoulder. "I like being pale."

Hermione pouted, the expression looking comical, childish and cute all at once. "A little colour never hurt anyone, Severus." She walked up to him and placed a kiss on his cheek, "At least try to have fun today, for me." He looked down at her before turning head to the right. He would get through this day for her.

She took his silence as acceptance, used to his moods, and grabbed his hand again. "Now come on. I see a nice spot near a few trees and I don't want someone else to take it." Severus grumbled but allowed his girlfriend to drag him to the spot.

They had started dating almost a year ago. Once she had left Hogwarts, she had applied for an apprenticeship and had an interest in Potions. Severus thought he would hate working with her. His classroom and his potions lab were his domain and having a know-it-all, stubborn witch bustling around would definitely change things.

What he didn't anticipate was that he would begin looking forward to her arrival every morning. She grew on him and he began to admire her intelligence, her little quirks and just how amazing she looked in the different suits and outfits to worked in.

It started out as a simple lunch between colleagues, which led to an actual date at her favourite restaurant. That was a daunting experience. Severus never had that much experience with women and he feared he wouldn't be able to hold a conversation with her and keep her interest. But this was Hermione Granger, who was mature for her age, well-educated and sweet to a point. The conversation was rocky at first but they soon relaxed and Severus had a and great time. They ended the night with a quiet walk in a nearby park and a passionate kiss on her doorstep.

That date led to the beach trip today. They had been on a few of these before but Severus always hated them. The sand was too hot, the water made him feel sticky and there were so many white and pasty muggles walking around in unflattering swimming outfits.

They reached the shaded spot and he promptly dropped the bag while she threw her towel on the sand and he set up his beach chair. She quickly took off her black shirt, white shorts and her Bikini top, handed him her bottle of sun tan lotion. She tossed him a wink and then laid face down on her towel, waiting for his miracle hands to go to work on her back. He grinned while he squirted some lotion on his hands. Maybe there was one thing he liked about the beach.
