Assumptions
"Hey, Korra." He says, taking a seat next to her.
"Hey." She replies, almost automatically.
"Everything okay?" he asks.
"Ya, fine. You?"
"Well…I've had something on my mind..." he says hesitantly.
"What is it?" She asks, turning towards him, curious.
"It's just that… No. You'll laugh at me. It's stupid." He replies unwillingly, looking at the ground beneath him while doing so.
"Nothing you say is stupid, Bolin. I won't laugh." She says reassuringly.
"How do I say this?" He thinks silently to himself. "What if she thinks I'm weird? Oh, just say it, Bolin. What's the worst that could happen?"
"C'mon, Bolin. You can tell me." She pleads, waiting for a response.
The earthbender looks straight into the Avatar's big brown eyes, memorizing every little detail.
"Korra, I…I love you," Bolin finally spits out, "There. I said it…"
He feels his face heating up and quickly turns his head towards the ground.
"…Really?" Korra asks, wondering if this is a joke or not.
"I hope you don't think I'm weird or anything…But I've loved you ever since the first day I saw you. The first time I set my eyes on you, I knew there was something special about you. I couldn't help myself." He says, trying to read the confused expression on her face. "Whenever I see you, I get butterflies," he continues, "We are meant to be together, Korra! Don't you see it? You're strong, I'm strong, You're fun, I'm fun, You're beautiful, I'm gorgeous! I can't help but smile whenever I see you celebrating after we win a match. I blush every time you smile at me. I love you Korra, in every way possible. You're perfect…But I know there's no point in telling you all this because you like Mako, and-"
"I don't like Mako!" she says, cutting him off mid-sentence.
"You don't?" Bolin replies with a shocked look on his face.
"No! Why would you think that?" She asked.
"I don't know… I just assumed you did. The way you look at him and all… it made me feel like I was below him all the time… Like I was never good enough… Like I never will be good enough. " he said, sadness creeping into his voice with every word. A small tear crept out of one of Bolin's big, green eyes as he let his head fall forward.
"Bolin…" she started, "I.. I don't like Mako… I like you, Bolin- the funny guy who can always cheer me up, no matter what situation. You will always be good enough, Bolin." She said. Bolin lifts his head, his signature smile on his face, the tear gone.
Korra…Thank-"
As he's about to finish, she leans in and kisses him on the cheek.
"No need. See you at practice, Bo." She says, getting up and leaving.
After a few moments of Bolin analyzing the situation he was just in, he realizes there's no need to be worrying about what just happened or what to do next. "I like her, she likes me. End of story." He thought with a smile on his face.
