Help
"I can't…I…Gosh, Bolin! Why are you doing this! This isn't right!" Bolin yells at himself, bending a chunk of earth at the gym wall. It was 3 a.m. Bolin couldn't sleep. He's too confused, worried, mad.
"Why do I feel this way! This shouldn't be happening!" Again, he hurls another rock into the already dented wall, trying to relieve his pain and confusion.
"…Bolin?" Is that you?" calls Korra from the entrance to the gym.
"Korra! What are you…why… what are you doing here?" he finally spit out, shocked that she was there.
"I heard someone down here and I got worried. Are you alright?" she asks, sitting down on a bench across from the earthbender.
"Ya…I just…couldn't sleep." He says slowly, avoiding eye contact.
"Bolin, tell me. I know something's wrong. What is it?" she says.
"I just…" he stops for a minute and sits down next to Korra, "I'm so confused right now. I don't know what to do."
"What do you mean?"
"Today, I accidentally told Asami that you and Mako kissed. She looked sad and worried, so I told her that it probably wasn't a big deal. Right then, it hit me."
"What hit you?" Korra asks, wondering to herself where he is going with this.
"That it did mean something-that you and Mako do like each other. That I don't mean anything to anyone." He says, tears slowly running down his face.
"Bolin…I-"
He stops her, "I just don't understand! I don't understand why Mako would do this to me! He knows how I feel about you! I don't understand why he cares about you so much when he already has Asami! It makes no sense! I'm just…so confused. I don't know what to do. I can't get mad at him. He's the only family I have left. I can't leave him. I just can't…" he finally fades off, almost talking to himself rather than Korra.
After a moment of silence, Bolin turns his head and looks at the Avatar.
"Well? Say something!" was all he could get out.
But rather than saying something, Korra leans into Bolin and wraps her strong, tan arms around Bolin. She pulls him in tight. She can feel the heat and sweat radiating from his body. He's still breathing hard. He finally gives in and falls limp into her strong hold. He likes it, knowing that she actually cares about him.
"It'll be alright, Bolin. Trust me." She whispers into his ear, hugging him even tighter.
One last tear falls from his eye. Everything was going to be okay. He was going to get through this.
The two sit in the gym, Korra holding him tightly, as if never letting him out of her grasp, Bolin not moving a muscle, as if not wanting the moment to end. But who knows? Maybe it won't.
