Once more, I tell myself
One more shot at passing through.
I enter the hall,
I make it almost to the other side
BOOM-Boom-boom!
I touched the spike of doom again!
I am back at the hallway,
Two lives left.
I navigate it once more,
Somewhat more—
BOOM-Boom-boom!
The exact same spike.
Once again at the impassible hallway,
One life left.
I stare down it,
At the spike.
After a deep breath I attempt it one more time,
BOOM-Boom-boom!
I stare at the screen with unfettered rage,
jump up out of my chair, shut off my system
and decide to go look for my cat to snuggle.
I look around,
darkness surrounds me.
I wonder where I am,
But nothing gives me a clue.
I was in my dad's lab,
But now I'm not.
