Hey everyone. This story was brought to you by Muggle History assignment, and Herbology Hangout on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Muggle History assignment I wrote for Task 3. 19th Century which was to write about wanting to freeze a moment and never leave it. For Herbology Hangout I wrote for the pairing prompt of James/Remus. I hope you all enjoy A Proposal to Remember.

The pitter patter of rain pouring down on the roof the apartment Remus Lupin shared with his boyfriend James Potter brought a morose sense of dread about the to day to Remus. It hadn't been long ago that James, he and their two friends had graduated from Hogwarts. Not to soon after that James Potter had broken up with his on and off again girlfriend Lily Evans for Remus.

"Remus," James called from the living room, "I'll be right back. I have to run out for a bit."

"Be careful out there," Remus called out not letting the hurt he felt fill his voice. "You've heard how dangerous it's been getting out there now a days."

James said something non-committal as he the door slammed shut behind him.

Remus slumped against the wall. They been going on like this for some time now and he was starting to get afraid that he was about to face the same fate Lily Evans faced. Even James promised on numerous occasions that wasn't true. He wanted to believe James was still in love with him but then again so did Lily Evans.

"James," Sirius's voice sounded at the front door. The dark haired man poked his head through the door hands over his eyes. "You guys aren't doing anything I wouldn't do. Right?"

"You just missed James by a few minutes," Remus informed him.

"Oh. Are you alright, Moony?" Sirius walked over to the couch after taking his hand from over his eyes. "You seem a bit down."

Remus joined Sirius on the couch. He didn't know how to tell Sirius about his fears without Sirius making fun of him. Or worse Sirius confirming his fears. Because out of the four of them James was always the closest to Sirius. A sigh left his lips as he thought through his words.

"You can tell me anything, Moony. You know that right?"

Remus nodded. "Just feeling a little underappreciated by my boyfriend is all," he sighed. "Padfoot..." Hesitating a bit trying to form the right words to pose the question Remus sighed again. "You don't think he's cheating on me with Lily Evans or anyone else? Do you, Padfoot?"

Sirius barked out a laugh. "Are you kidding me?" The laughter was clear in Sirius's voice as he asked the question. "James Potter is so in love with you it isn't funny."

"But you'd tell me if he was. Right?"

"Of course I would."

The door banged open as James walked through holding something behind his back. He marched over and knelt in front of Remus. "I have something I need to say to you, my Moony," he said looking up at Remus from his position on the floor. "We may not have been together for that long but it shouldn't matter. When you find the one and you know you found the one you have go for it. Am I right?"

Remus nodded in confusion. "You are," he said raising an eyebrow.

"I might not have a ring right now but I was hoping that this puppy would make up for the lack of ring and you'd marry me." James pulled a sweet little Corgi pup from behind his back.

Remus nodded taking the puppy from James and then reaching over and kissing James. Remus wished that he could keep this little moment frozen for all eternity but, of course, Sirius had to break the moment.

"I would have held out for the ring," Sirius joked before pulling his friends and their puppy into a great big hug. "Congratulations you guys!"

I hope you all enjoyed A Proposal to Remember.
