Absolutes
"Only Sith deal in absolutes Anakin," Obi-Wan said to his 21 year old padawan as they entered their quarters. "Jedi deal in common thoughts and negotiations."
"What's so bad with dealing in absolutes?" Anakin asked his Master and Obi-Wan turned around, with a shocked look on his face.
"Have I taught you nothing my young padawan?" Anakin flinched, something he had been doing lately.
"I'm not that young," he muttered. "One year away from the trial age."
Obi-Wan sighed. "Let's not do this again Anakin." He said as he made his way to the kitchen. "I've told you before, the Council and myself will decide when we feel it is right for you to take the trials."
"But you took them when you were my age!" Anakin snapped.
"That was different," Obi-Wan said bracing himself on the counter as his padawan came into the room. "I had fought a great evil and prevailed…and lost something in the mist of it."
Feeling the hurt and sadness over their bond, Anakin whispered "I'm sorry Master, I didn't mean to bring back those memories."
Obi-Wan forced a smile. "It's alright Anakin. I was forced to receive a great loss, but I also received a great gift."
"And that would be?" Anakin asked.
"You padawan," Anakin smiled but flinched once again. Obi-Wan gazed at his apprentice out of the corner of his eye then spoke again.
"Back on our previous subject, a Sith deals in absolutes because they deal in anger. A Sith is always the first to draw his weapon in a battle, because he concentrates on anger and that anger leads him to attack first."
"But sometimes we are forced to draw first," Anakin challenged.
Obi-Wan nodded. "But only in extreme circumstances, and it's when we feel threatened."
"Well, couldn't a Sith feel threatened?" He asked, with a look of young wonder on his face.
"No, Sith don't feel anything but corruption, anger and jealousy. They live on negative thoughts Anakin." He then made his way into the living room of their quarters. "I've got to go speak with a few other Masters, I'll be back in about an hour." He turned to look at his padawan. "Try not to get in any trouble?"
Anakin smiled. "Yes Master,"
Obi-Wan left his quarters and made his way to Master Yoda's. The room was dark and he stood patiently. "Sit down you must Obi-Wan," Yoda's voice spoke and Obi-Wan slowly made his way to a seat opposite Yoda. "Help you with what, can I?" He asked.
Obi-Wan's face brought a frown as he seated himself. "I'm concerned for my padawan Master."
