This ficlet (and has been slightly revised) is a response to the Thursday To-Do challenge from the A-Team Story Board. The challenge was to insert the phrase "Hold still. I think I've got it" The German aria is from "The Magic Flute" by Mozart. (thanks to Tiggertoo for suggesting the opera and for the encouragement to post this)
Soaring with Eagles
"Wahooooo"
They were right Murdock thought this was just like flying. Well almost.
Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön
Wie noch kein Auge je geseh'n!
Ich fühl' es, wie dies Götterbild
Mein Herz mit neuer Regung füllt.
"Wahooooo" He let out another earth shattering howl. He hadn't had this much fun since Cahn Rahm Bay.
Dies' etwas kann ich zwar nicht nennen,
Doch fühl' ichs hier wie Feuer brennen.
Soll die Empfindung Liebe sein?
Ja, ja, die Liebe ist's allein.
He could do this all day. If he closed his eyes he could forget that he wasn't really behind the controls of a UH-1 Iroquois. And that he wasn't an opera singer.
15 minutes later
"Murdock, you realize this isn't how I planned on spending my evening" Face complained.
"Sorry Faceman." Murdock said twisting on his stomach and trying to look over his shoulder. "I dunno know what happened. One minute I was soaring with eagles and the next I was flatter than an armadillo during rush hour."
Hannibal appeared at Face's shoulder and gave a cursory glance down "Nice, Murdock."
On the other side of the picnic table, BA giggled. "That's what the fool gets for actin' like a lil kid"
"You know Face a little duct tape will take care of that" Hannibal grinned around his cigar.
'Yeah" Face grinned "It would. Along with a good bit of hair "
BA stood up "I got some on mah van"
"Haaannibal" Murdock twisted harder this time to escape
"Now Murdock it'll only hurt for a minute"
"Hold still. I think I've got it." Face gave a particularly hard yank causing Murdock to yelp. "What I want to know is what possessed you to trampoline next to a cactus patch?"
Murdock finished yanking his pants back up and buckling his belt while he considered Face's question "Well the trampoline was there and I was over here" he said " pointing in opposite directions "and the voices in my head said that it almost be like flying." Murdock cocked his head to the side thoughtfully, "Sometimes I think the voices lie"
