This is a sequal to my other one-shot "An Angel's Gift". I've never written
something like this before so please forgive if it's crappy.

She despised the rain.
And yet she loved it so.
She hated climbing trees.
But here she was, sitting in one.
She loathed things that were dry and lifeless.
And now she had placed herself in the branches of a deciduous in the winter.
She hated clothes that clung to her body tightly.
But now she was sitting in the rain allowing the cool wet droplets splash onto her.
Her world had been turned upside down. Nothing made sense to her anymore.
And she detested everything that had ever played a part in her life.
Her eyes strained its gaze on the naked branches of the tree and her mind pondered the thing she had always thought simple.
The thing that changed everything.
The thing that was the enigma she longed to solve.
The thing that wasn't as simple as she had thought.
When it rains it pours.
The water splattered against her scalp and slid slowly off her face before crashing down onto the grass below her. Her hair had been turned a deeper color and cascaded softly onto her chest and back, dripping more water onto her.
Simple.
Nothing was that easy.
There would always be something more complex and problematical behind it.
Like him.
He seemed simple.
But alas, how surprising people like him could be.
How people like him you thought you knew, when they're truly the stranger you just accidentally bumped into in the streets.
But that stranger had uttered the three words she never thought to hear from him.
She thought she knew him, but he's just the stranger she didn't know.
Now she doesn't want to know.
Doesn't want to be a part of it.
And yet she finds her heart defying what her mind wants.
Heart and mind.
The never ending battle between what you want and what you think you want.
The park grew misty.
A light darkness engulfed the park in its depths. Only allowing a person to see ahead and not beyond.
But it was perfectly fine with her. She didn't want to see what she didn't already know.
A dark figure rose from the fog and stepped along with a cat like grace, and stopped at the tree she was sitting in.
It was him.
The mystery.
Enigma.
Riddle.
Conundrum.
Puzzle.
And she knew what he wanted.
An answer.
He carried no umbrella, nor was he wearing a raincoat.
He just leaned against the tree, as drenched as she was in regular clothes.
Waiting.
How time passed along slowly.
Slowly.
Waiting.
For an answer.
They knew what to say.
But then again. . .
All words were lost in their throats.
She didn't want to say it.
She looked at him.
He looked up.
His dark azure eyes were pleading with her.
Wanted.
Loved.
Needed.
Do I?
Can I?
Maybe.
Perhaps.
But still. . .
Is it possible?
If only. . .
But. . .
Yes.
Even though. . .
No.
They stared at each other. Long and hard.
Her tears were the rain.
Her smile was the sun.
And she was overwhelmed. . .
By happiness?
For him.
And the love he offered.
Yes.
"I love you too."
