Aeris opened her eyes and smiled sadly when she saw Sephiroth's true self fall through the lifestream. She used her powers to pull him gently to her. "Wake up, you have a chance to fix this."

His eyes snapped open. "What is there to fix?"

"My powers were not strong enough to stop Meteor. Help me."

"Why? This is what mother wanted."

"Because, if Meteor destroys the planet, You and Jenova will die as well."

He frowned when he saw the truth in her words. "Fine."

He was confused by her smile. She grabbed his hands in hers and intertwined her small fingers with his large ones. "Close your eyes and give your power to the lifestream."

He resented it, but did as he was told after she closed her own eyes.

"Are you sure Last Child?"

Sephiroth's eyes snapped open when he heard the voice inside his head, much like Mother did. Except.. this one was much gentler, and didn't force it's way.

"Yes planet, Take our powers and save yourself.

"General, Do you really want to do this? We will not make you do something you don't wish to do."

Some part of his heart was touched. This was the first time someone asked him what he wanted. But his mind blocked out the emotion. "I don't want this Planet destroyed if it means I die as well."

Aeris smiled at him and he felt the planet's acceptance in his mind. "Very well."

Aeris closed her eyes once more and he could swear he saw a pair of white wings flare behind her for a moment before he closed his eyes in reflex when he felt something sap his power away.

"Don't fight it."

He gave up his struggle and let the power leave him.

Suddenly, he was standing above the planet. His eyes opened when he saw Aeris beside him, her hand still intertwined with his. "Watch."

He looked back to the Planet and was amazed as he saw Midgar, being ripped up by both Meteor and a white light, Holy.

Suddenly, the life stream came above the planets surface and rushed to stop Meteor from slamming into the planet's surface. Meteor struggled against it for a brief few moments, but the lifestream held fast, and soon meteor began to break up.

When it was over the lifestream returned to the planet and Sephiroth looked back at Aeris. "What now?"

"In two years.. you will gain your strength back. Do with it as you like, your tainted blood has already begun to infect the planet."
