Love in the Military

It was spring. In the office on Colonel Roy Mustang love seemed to be in the air. Havoc had a girlfriend and wouldn't shut up. It was no secret that their leader Roy Mustang was dating his right hand woman Riza Hawkeye. Even though their relationship wasn't open, it was VERY obvious.

"Good morning Hughes." Lieutenant Hawkeye said opening the door to leave. Hughes nodded his greeting before entering the office. It was mainly empty because everyone was at lunch.

"Hi buddy! What's going on?"

"Maes, I need some advice." Roy said.

"What kind of advice?"

"I'm going to ask Riza to marry me."

"WHAT!?"

"I am going to ask Riza Hawkeye to marry me."

"Yeah, Roy I got that. But you? MARRAGE? You always hung up on me when I told you to get a wife."

"I know, but, Riza… she…she's… she's so…"

"A hot babe?"

"She's my woman Hughes, besides you're married."

"True, so true. So when are you going to ask her? Wait, do you even have a ring!?"

"Yes, I have a ring." He pulled a small blue velvet box out of his pocket, "here." Hughes opened the box.

"Oh WOW!" the ring's band was gold with My One And Only Love inscribed on the inside. The rock was a rare pink diamond shaped like a heart.

"I have no idea what, of how I'm going to ask her!"

"Tell her from your heart, how you really feel. I proposed to Gracia during a movie! And soon our little Elicia was born! Look, Look! Isn't she so cute!?" Hughes yanked out a picture of his daughter. She was cute, but Hughes always overdid it.

"Thanks Maes, why don't you show Fullmetal?" Hughes flounced out of the office blowing air kisses at the photo. Roy sighed and stared at the ring.

"Tell her what you really feel. But what if she rejects me?"

LATER THAT NIGHT…

Roy was waiting outside the LaLee Bella Café. He was holding a bouquet of white roses. Riza arrived 5 minutes later.

"H-Hi." Roy said.

"Hi." She replied. She was wearing a sleeveless red dress, including high heels.

"Wow," he said holding out the flowers, "you look amazing!"

"Thank you, you look very handsome yourself."

"Shall we sit down?" she nodded. Roy had gotten a table outside. He pulled out a chair and Riza sat down.

"I sure hope it doesn't rain" he thought. Reaching into his pocket he fingered the ring box.

1 HOUR LATER

CENTRAL PARK

Thunder tumbled high above the military couple.

"You know if the world were about to end, there's no place I'd rather be than here with you." Roy said.

"Aww! That's so sweet! Thank you!" Suddenly, rain began to pouring down. Roy spotted a covered pavilion.

"Come on!" he called grabbing her hand and pulled her under the pavilion. Both were soaking wet.

"I was hoping this would turn out a bit more romantic but…" Carefully Roy got down on one knee and pulled out the ring box and opened it. Riza gasped.

"Riza, I love you, I hope you will make me the happiest man alive. Riza Hawkeye will you marry me?"

"I…oh…YES!"

"Oh, I under—what!?"

"YES! Yes! I'll marry you!" Grinning, Roy slipped th ring on her finger. Then, Roy wrapped his arm around her waist; her hands around his shoulders, and he kissed her.
