I felt exhausted. My energy has been spent the entire morning doing.. nothing, really. I answered some calls from Chitanda, who was fretting about where to go and what to do and what to wear.. honestly, I was content with anything. I guess I just wanted to spend time with her, that's all.

I looked over at the girl who had so willingly accepted me, indulging every scene that took place in the surroundings. She would frequently stop to exclaim at how vast the sky was, or the way the little children on the streets reminded her of her want for siblings..

I was not surprised at the intense amount of curiousity this girl had within her.

As I thought this, taking in the laughter that escaped her glossy lips.. well, that was what I had my eyes on.

Her lips.

"Chitanda," I said.

She stopped talking, pursed her lips and asked, "Yes, Oreki-san?"

Without hesitation, I leaned in to examine the thin strips of pink.

I see it now.

The glimmer.

"Are you using lip gloss?"

It was only then that I realised.

Our noses were nearly touching.

Okay, okay..

How do I-

"It's lip balm," I saw her lips move slowly.

The minute felt like hours. We stayed frozen in that frighteningly uncomfortable- yet comfortable- position. Then, her lips pulled apart, and she started giggling.

What's so funny?

From the corner of my eye, I saw her tip-toe, and

We kissed.

Was this what they said about first kisses?

Fireworks and sparks?

I guess what they said was true.

Her lips were soft and warm, smelling of comfort, and I returned the kiss, now longing and somehow fulfilling my desire of wanting to know her more.

I..I couldn't hold my breath any longer no matter how much I prayed for it to last forever.

We pulled apart.

"..."

Wow.

That was.. that was..!

"Amazing,".

Haha. Did I just.. say that out loud..?

"Yes.. it was...".

We both gasped for breath, and then she giggled.

..Her voice sounded like the singing of angels.

Deciding to change the topic, I asked, "What flavour was that?"

I guess I asked out of curiousity, too.

Goodness, she's leaving her mark on me.

I found it cute, the way she went all red.

"It's pumpkin,"

Ha?

"What kind of flavour is that?"

I have never heard of pumpkin lip balms. Ever.

"Pumpkin! It's homemade!"

She puffed out her cheeks. She's all mad, would you look at that.

Then, as I felt a smile crawling up my lips, I said,
"It tasted good."

Then, I saw her smile.

"Oh! ..You tasted good, too, Oreki-san!"

I stared at our shadows on the path, long and foreboding as the sun set in the purple skies behind us.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to see her and asked,

".. wanna walk again tomorrow?"

Another day to spend with her.

"That'll be great."

Our footsteps echoed in the comforting silence that we enjoyed trying to catch glimpses of each other, under the dancing colours of the sky from purple to dark blue.

"Goodnight." I said, as we arrived in front of the gates.

"See you tomorrow."

I can't wait.
