This little thing is like a bittersweet story of love, and I was picturing it for Reyna and Jason, but you can picture it for any two characters with a similar story.

The Things We Could Be

There are so many things in this world. So many wonderful things. There's almost no end to the amount of glorious things floating around in the world, going unnoticed. The joy to it is that anyone could become that. Anyone at all.

You and I, we could travel the world. We could see the sun rise and fall in a thousand different places, on a thousand different horizons. Picture it: doesn't it look beautiful? Doesn't it make you appreciate what you have?

You and I, we could read a million books, each one different. We could curl up, nice and warm, with a novel in hand. Nothing could stop us from making our own stories, filling our own pages.

You and I, we could run around, wild and free. Our hearts light and our souls joyful. We couldn't be contained, just like our love for one another, roaming without walls. Everything could fall right into place, right where we want it to be.

You and I, we could watch as many movies as our hearts desired, the longing in them transferring to us. Cuddling together by the fire, content with all aspects of our simple life.

You and I, we could spend our life together, grow old together, die together. Spending every moment of our lives wishing we could be with the other.

But no.

The things we could be are now the things we could have been. The things we would have been. The things that were abandoned. The things that faded away. The things that I long for.

I hope you liked that, thanks for reading! -Meghan
