TO GAIN AND TO LOSE

-

For the greater part of my life, I'll say I was naive. Passing through time like water, after all isn't that what time is; ever flowing.

Most people think time is like a river, that flows swift and sure in one direction. They are wrong, for I've seen the true face of time.

You might be wondering who I am, and how I know of these things. Sit down, and I'll tell you a tale of a man who had but everything,

and lost everything all within the same instant. How honor and glory brought me devastation;

how I became the architect of my own destruction.

-

With all my in experiences said, I was a soldier. Not just an ordinary servant carrying out the beck and calls of the master, I was royalty.

A fine Prince of Persia, my father leading the way with his cavalry of men to India; and I along with them. What awaited me there, I did not know.

What could I, no less than 20, possibly have known about war, much less love?

-

The first time I saw her, was when fate had dealt me a bad hand; robbed me of everything dear to me and unleashed a cataclysm I thought I could

never escape from. Seeing my father die before me, and again watching him reanimated by the sands of time, a different man from the one I once knew;

only to cut him open with my own blade. My steps felt heavy with guilt and detriment. I would have to move on, I would have to find her in this crumbling palace.

My sanity depended on it.
