NEVER SAY GOODBYE
This idea just popped into my head after I had a really long "discussion" with a friend over which is better, Fma or Fmab. I like Fmab better, like a lot better. She thinks Fma is better (Which it isn't) and so we had an hour and a half argument punctuated with flying textbooks and lots of yelling. And I've got to say, I have never had a class as fun as that. My other friends were so confused and scared, it was HILARIOUS!
Edward Elric was said to be a prodigy, an alchemic genius with incredible abilities. But nobody ever said he was a genius when it came to women.
He just assumed Winry understood his actions, he didn't realize that nobody ever knew why he didn't say goodbye to her when they left. But nobody ever knew he was sentimental, especially after he burned his house down, along with all of his childhood memories.
But that was fine with him. They didn't need to know the reason why, only she needed to know. So when Alphonse asked him why he left without saying goodbye, he just answered, "Because, I don't want her to cry again."
When Pinako asked him why, he answered her by saying, "I don't want to hear her long lecture about how to take care of my automail, or how I'm gonna break it right away." But Pinako knew.
Stupid old hag.
When anyone else asked him about it, he simply shrugged his shoulders and pretended not to know what they were talking about. They would just sigh or smack their foreheads at his apparent 'obliviousness'.
He was a genius, so he knew the definition of goodbye.
Goodbye- a farewell, a conventional expression of parting
But that small little word held more than that simple definition. Saying goodbye meant leaving, and leaving meant not seeing each other again for a while. Or it could mean "I won't see you ever again." His mother said goodbye before she died. That's how she had meant it, that she was never going to see them again. Edward wouldn't let that happen, not to him and Winry. No matter what, he will always return to her.
He will never say goodbye.
Just a small drabble, really simple. So what did you think? You should review and tell me, or I'm never going to know.
