she danced

a short piece describing an ending. I was thinking of a specific pairing when this came into my head but I guess you can read it however you want

when the time came, as they knew it would,

she smiled,

one last, cruel, trick,

not on him, but on the world that had brought them there,

it was not quick, he could not give her that,

he had no tears, she shed enough for both of them,

but she did not beg amid the cries,

and she danced,

and he smiled,

and at the last, she whispered, 'I would do it again'
