Standing in the dock, the 20 year old woman had almost zoned out of her surroundings completely. There were so many thoughts flying around in her head she thought that she may pass out. On hearing someone tell her to stand up brought her back down to earth a little as she felt a hand on her arm, making her do so. There was a far away look in her eyes, but it didn't get noticed, the people who were in the room didn't look close enough to see it. They either didn't care, or had stopped caring. Waiting for the judge's decision minutes felt like hours to the woman, it was like they were neverending. Deep down of course she knew that it was mere seconds that had passed, but this thought was absolutely no comfort to her.

On hearing the words that were next spoken sent her mind spiralling, they swirled in her mind and caused the thoughts to become worse and even more controlling of her. Shaking her head a little she was sure she'd heard wrong, she had to have. But, looking around the room, Veronica Mitchell knew that she hadn't heard wrong at all, she had heard exactly right. She was going to prison, there was no doubt about it. How could she cope? What was she going to do? She was going to miss out on her life, not that she was particularly fond of it anyway. Still, it wasn't right. She gritted her teeth together and attempted to swallow the lump in her throat that just seemed to be getting bigger and bigger, making difficult for her to breathe. She sucked in a large breath feeling her heat beating faster, she was sure the whole courtroom could hear it, it was so loud and ringing in her ears. She looked around the room and that's when she saw him. The bastard that had caused all this. It was his fault this was happening to her. Her eyes fixed on his and she glared, utter hatred and anger seeping out of her eyes. If looks could kill he would deffinitly have been dead there and then. Ironic, she thought, and now regretted that she hadn't managed to finish the job off those few months ago.

Feeling herself being pulled away by the firm grip that was on her arm, her gaze left his and her feelings suddenly changed back to those of worry. Not normally one to admit she was frightened, Veronica, or Ronnie as she preferred to be known, was finding it more difficult than ever to hide these feelings that just seemed to be taking up every part of her body. She knew she was physically shaking from the mixture of emotions that she had felt in the past 3 minutes, but was helpless to stop it. Her eyes darted from object to object, from wall to wall, looking around at her surroundings. She hated every single thing that she saw, the smells made her stomach churn and she felt as though she could be sick at any given minute. She wanted more than anything to just get away from this place, from him, from her life, and start all over again. It was thoughts of how she was going to start her new life that had kept her going for a good few years, but the thought that she wouldn't be able to make these plans a reality for at least the next 10 years was what made her heart sink and caused her to feel even worse, if possible.

10 years for attempted murder.
