Lithindrael, the Princess of Two Worlds
by PinkyB
Prologue
It started out in Middle-earth when the elves were young and had just come over the sea. The elves and the dwarves did not yet share their great hatred for one another. King Thranduil, king of the Sindarin elves that lived in the Mirkwood, had been caught with a dwarf princess one day, but no one thought anything of it; they turned a blind eye.
But the two had a secret relationship that carried on for many a year. One day the dwarf princess disappeared without a word, gone back to her kingdom under the Blue Mountains in far away Eriador. The kingdom was huge, built under the mountains with sleek, rock passageways leading through the whole range.
The king was heartbroken, but he could only stand to live for his sense of duty to his kingdom. He soon married an elf named Indrael, and had several children. In time, his heartache began to lessen.
One frosty morning, he received word that a dwarf princess had died. He was summoned to the Blue Mountains because it was made known that there was a child, conceived between the two. She was half dwarf, and half elf. Never before had this happened, but he agreed to take the infant and raise it in his own kingdom of Mirkwood.
The girl took the name Lithindrael, and was raised among the elves as a princess. She never knew of her strange lineage, all she knew was that she was an elf, and that her father was the king. Outwardly, she looked just like one of them, but she sensed that she was different. She had siblings; her brother Legolas was the oldest before her. Then came Tarinsil, a brother, and her only sister Lathinyael.
Her father intended to keep the identity of her mother a secret, because it would ruin the kingdom's good reputation in the eyes of the other realms. The Queen agreed to this secrecy and went along mothering the halfling. And so Lithindrael grew up thinking Indrael was her mother.
A/N: Hope you like the prologue, there's more to come. R/R! (And I'm new at this, so be nice.)
