Her mother had bought her the camera just before Eva was born, insisting she take as many pictures as possible. It was an expensive gift, and she'd hesitated to keep it until Snow'd decided to play dirty, "They grow up so fast, I just want you to be able to record the memories." So she'd kept the damn camera, Eva came a week later, and she'd had to yell at Graham to stop taking so many pictures a few days into their being parents.
But then a couple months in, after a late night feeding, she briefly, gently places Eva next to her conked out father to adjust her night shirt, and reaches back and stops. Graham has moved his arms to rest above his head, and Eva has done the exact same. She blames how freaking adorable the sight is for why she's suddenly fighting back tears, but then remembers that stupid camera and slowly slides out of bed.
For once she's grateful for the thing's price tag as she bends and takes a fantastic photo with no flash in the night's low light, but the sound makes Eva stir and hurriedly she puts the camera back where she found it. Their daughter back in her arms she starts to rock slowly, those familiar forehead crinkles bit by bit vanishing, making her sigh with relief. They were just starting to figure out a schedule, she'd never forgive herself if some stupid picture had upset that fragile balance.
Putting Eva in her bassinet near their bed, she plops back down with a soft groan, the mattress and pillow feel fantastic. But just as she starts to drift off she feels a warm arm wrap around her waist, Graham's chest pressing against her back.
"Little princess finally full?" he asks, the sleep in his voice making his accent that much more obvious. But she snorts despite her instant reaction to that brogue.
"She doesn't eat like a princess, more like a-"
"Wolf?" she feels him grin into her hair, and she turns, smirking back.
"I was gonna say dragon, but you get the idea."
"That I do," he nods, kissing her nose before pulling her closer.
She can't say she'll ever get fully used to all the cutsey stuff he does, but that doesn't mean she won't enjoy it just as much as the mischievous, fun stuff.
"By the way, I want a print of that picture you took."
Case in point.
She tries to hide her smile unsuccessfully, hearing him chuckle as she opts to ignore him, falling asleep almost instantly to the beat of his heart near her ear.
