This was it. This was the moment she had been dreading. This was the moment, the moment she'd thought about so often, and yet believed… hoped… would never come.
They sat beside each other, somewhat stiff. There was maybe a few inches of space between them…but that space felt like the whole world. They were so far away from each other, so far away from everything they'd once been. Silence hung in the air, and that silence was what made this so terrible…so real…
They both knew it was over. Both knew it would never be the same ever again. Everything they'd been … everything that had made them work… was gone now. There was no way to return back to those happy, sunny afternoons or those intimate, soft nights … it was over.
But it would never be over…not completely. She looked at him now, and she loved him still. She knew she would love him forever. But she hated him so much for doing this…
And this was it. This was the moment she had dreaded. The reason why she didn't want them to get together, the reason why she didn't want to let herself love him…because now it was all falling apart, and she knew nothing would ever be right ever again.
They were friends…he was the nicest guy in the world….why would he do this? What had she done wrong?
If Ginny and Harry couldn't make it work, who could?
They sat there in that silence and they both cried. They both wanted to fix things…but there was some things magic couldn't fix.
"I'd better go. It's getting late," she said awkwardly.
This was his one chance to stop her, to grab her and make her stay… make it all okay again….but all she heard was silence. All she could see in his face was silence. It was too late, too over, and there was nothing either of them could say anymore….
The silence only stopped when she reached her own bedroom and broke down into tears.
