The library always gave her a sense of peace whenever she was wandering between its bookshelves. There was nothing like the feel of paper or parchment while she turned a page, or the smell of ink as she completed her essays at a small desk in the corner. Hermione knew that her bookishness had alienated her from quite a few people not too long after her magical education began. Her ability to retain information, as well as her need to help others know the material had helped that misunderstanding further. She wasn't a know it all, not really. How could she be when there was so much to learn about the magical world?
Hermione usually made her trips to her favorite corner alone, where she could just sit down and read. There were so many options to choose from, at times she couldn't decide what tome to pick up next. Over the years it had become a haven to her, just as the local one at home had been while growing up. Although she has two amazing friends now, she still needs this time to herself. And it never escapes her notice how those boys try to hedge around books whenever they can, either. Really, what could she do? Some things never change...
