Star Trek Voyager - Speed

Prologue

Tom Paris stood in the deactivated holodeck, admiring the technological marvel of the entire system. This device can take me anywhere I want to go. I can do anything, see anything… be anywhere with a few commands. He thought. The problem was, he had exhausted the ships holodatabase. He had successfully completed all of the Captain Proton missions with Harry Kims help, he restored a Chevrolet Camero, swam in the oceans of exotic worlds and now he was bored.

Last night he had skimmed through the database and came up with absolutely nothing he wanted to do. I need to write a holonovel. The thought suddenly came to him. But what about? He stood wondering. Still coming up blank, he reached up and tapped his communicator. "Paris to Kim."

"Kim here." Came the response.

"Harry, do you have a minute?"

--

The two best friends sat on the couch in Voyagers mess hall snacking on Naroovian thin mints, and tossing ideas around for Toms holonovel.
"You like fast cars." Harry said as he took a mint of the tray provided by Neelix.

"Agreed. We should have very fast cars in the novel. What elese?"

"Well, Women are always good."

"Agreed. Hot women." Tom chuckled at Harrys remark.

"I like it when things blow up…" Harry stated as he swallowed the mint.

"That's it!" Tom yelled as he jumped up.

"What's it?" Neelix walked over to the couches to join his comrades.

"Fast cars, hot women and big explosions! We are going to make a classic good guy-bad guy story!" Tom squirmed with glee.

"Tom is going to make a holonovel." Harry said to Neelix, in a monochromatic tone.

"Ah, sounds exciting!" Neelix piped up. "Do you think you could write me in? It sounds like a lot of fun."

Tom pointed both fingers at the Talaxian. "Not only will I write you in…" he started, "but you will get a major part! Come on Harry, we have a lot of work to do!" Tom turned and ran out the door.

Harry glanced up at Neelix. "Can you put some of these mints in a box for me… I have a feeling this is going to be a long night…"
