Most people don't realize when to run or when to stay. I will admit that I have run away from many of my problems only because I was scared. I was scared I wouldn't win the battle and then I would lose the war. And then after all was said and done…I would lose everything. Truth be told a lot was done but not everything that needed to be said was. I said many things but I never say anything that I meant.
Chapter 1: Old Tricks
I walked down the cold streets of Russia, alone. I put my hand in my pocket to feel the silhouette of my loyal and trusting blade, Creston. Creston was a fox type of bit-beast. He had an ice blue body with snow tipped tails and paws. His ears would go back whenever he was mad or felt threatened. His eight tails would whip behind him vigorously as well. But he was a very gentle soul really, once you got him to trust you. The wind would and I closed my jacket. I couldn't afford to get sick; I had important things to take care of, Really important things. I crossed the road and headed towards the parks of Moscow. I walked by a restaurant and was stopped by a familiar voice.
"Katoma Inolv."
"Hiwatari." I said turning around. There he stood; that old geezer. "Well, well, well. How the mighty have fallen. I hear that Kai's team won the championships and the rookie is the one that beat Tala. Wow…that's a shame." I said sarcastically, of course.
"Yes." Voltaire said. I shrugged.
"Can't win 'em all Gramps." I said glancing at him.
"I hear you've been evicted from yet another team? Katoma you really are pathetic." He said walking closer to me. I backed up at step, casually. "How many times are you going to run, Kat?" He asked taking my chin in his hand. "You can't erase your past- what you did." I jerked away.
"Don't touch me. I left the…"
"Abbey? Yes we're all very well aware of that, little Kat, especially your brother. You know he really misses you." Voltaire said. I turned away while crossing my arms over my chest.
"Brother? I have no brother. I have no family. He, along with my mother and father were killed by your men to get to me!" I yelled trying to hold back the tears.
"No my dear little one, I'm talking about your twin brother." He said petting my head. I let my arms fall.
"Yuri?" I asked.
"Yes. He's at the abbey right now."
"No! The abbey was closed! You were supposed to be arrested." I yelled.
"Not when you're settled like me, little Kat." He whispered in my ear. I froze. "There are still plenty of children left at the abbey. Yuri is just one of the many and you can be one again. If you only come with me."
"No!" I yelled pushing away from him.
"Don't you want to be with your brother again?" He asked walking over to me. "All I want you to do is get Black Dranzer from Kai for me and I'll let you both go; never to come after you again. What do you say Little Kat? Will you help me?" He asked touching my shoulder lovingly.
"You promise you'll let us both go?" I asked timidly. Voltaire chuckled slightly. He patted my back. What had I just done?
