Gokudera's got strong fingers, beautiful fingers. Perhaps they are the slow product of many years work, or perhaps they are merely part and parcel of hereditary beauty. Yamamoto does not know, figures he does not need to know to admire them.

Free of calluses, the skin is smooth as they brush against his own, rough palms. If he concentrates, he can feel where the bands of rings usually rest - pointer, ring, pinky. The weapons Gokudera uses are not the type to leave the mark of practice behind except in burns and scrapes, and Yamamoto knows those where to find those, too. Skin scarred a little too smooth, compared to the surrounding area. He has a few of his own, from when they'd both gotten too reckless. Those hands though, those skillful hands are unmarred.

He kisses them, down the thumb and back up the palm, slips his mouth around the middle finger and sucks. Gokudera closes his eyes, tight, bites his lip before growling out, Is this what you call courting? And Yamamoto laughs, Gokudera's hand dropping limp against his tongue and teeth, because this isn't just about courting, it's about making Gokudera understand, too.

After school, after the clubs end, the classroom is quiet. No one else hears the chair skitter away, nor the desks that screech sharply against the tile floor. Yamamoto's body heat seeps through his shirt into the chill ground, but above, Gokudera is pinning him, knee heavy on his chest. Where Gokudera's hand rests on his shirt, the wetness of his own saliva dampens the cotton. "Be serious about this, you bastard. This is your only chance."

"I am." Yamamoto doesn't move, tries not to present a challenge. (It's fun to see the faces Gokudera makes, but that's not the point here.) He says, "I like you," easily; it annoys Gokudera how simple it is for him. But he's won a grudging chance from Gokudera, and he's not going to waste it. It was hard enough to get the other boy to admit they might be friends.

So instead, "There's a movie this Saturday. You'll like it."

"Who're you to say I'll like it?" Spoken like Gokudera's trying to pick a fight.

But Gokudera's weight shifts off of him, and he pushes himself off the ground leisurely. "Hahaha, fair enough," he replies. Gokudera watches him stand and straighten his shirt, and he smiles back. "Let's watch it together, okay?" If Gokudera asks, he'd even let Tsuna come, but for now he keeps his mouth shut. Tsuna is like a brother to him, but some things are meant for only two.

"Ch'. Fine," Gokudera finally answers, looking away. He's relieved, and now past the danger point, Yamamoto drapes himself onto Gokudera's shoulders. ('Hey, don't be so friendly with me!' 'Hahaha, don't worry, it's fine.' 'That's not the point, you idiot.')

"Hmm, the kid should be done with Tsuna now, right?" Gokudera brightens visibly at the idea of finding the Tenth. There is no jealousy here, just confirmation of Gokudera's loyalty to his friends.

------

Yamamoto spends most of the film watching Gokudera, and Gokudera...

Gokudera doesn't notice at all. (But that's all right, after all.)
