Kevin could feel his heart begin to race as he pulled the car into a parking spot at the edge of the cliff. The spot overlooked the small town in which he and his long-time boyfriend, Connor, lived. He nervously fiddled with the small, velvet-covered box in his pocket.
"This spot has a nice view." Connor commented from the passenger's seat. Kevin took a deep breath, closing his eyes and silently counting to three. It was now or never.
"I can hear the bells." He sang.
"What?" Connor asked in a giggle.
"Well, don't you hear 'em chime?" Kevin continued.
"Kev, are you alright?" Connor wondered.
"Can't you feel my heartbeat, feeling perfect time? And all because he touched me. He looked at me and stared. Yes, he bumped me. My heart was unprepared when he tapped me, and knocked me off my feet. One little touch, now my life's complete, 'cause when he nudged me, love put me in a fix. Yes, it hit me, just like a ton of bricks. Yes, my heart burst, now I know what life's about. One little touch and love's knocked me out, and I can hear the bells. My head is spinning. I can hear the bells. Something's beginning. Everybody says that a guy who looks like me can't win his love, well, just wait and see, 'cause I can hear the bells. Just hear them chiming. I can hear the bells. My temperature's climbing. I can't contain my joy 'cause I finally found the boy I've been missing. Listen! I can hear the bells."
"I don't understand what's happening." Connor laughed. "Why are you singing?"
"Shh. You're throwing off my timing." Kevin said quickly.
"Sorry." Connor mumbled, blushing.
Kevin smiled and raised his eyebrows before continuing, "Round one: I'll ask him on a date. And then, round two: I'll primp but won't be late, because round three's when we kiss inside my car. Won't go all the way, but we'll go pretty fa-ar! Round four: I'll ask him for his hand, and then round five: we'll book the wedding band, so by round six, Connor, much to your surprise, your coffee-drunk boyfriend needs the prize!" He pulled the box out of his pocket and presented it to Connor, flipping the top off to reveal a simple silver band with a single, small diamond set the in center.
"Wait a second..." Connor gasped. "Are you asking what I think you're asking?"
"Do you think I'm asking you to marry me?" Kevin wondered.
"Yes." Connor mumbled sheepishly, still staring at the ring.
Kevin grinned, "Then, yes. I am asking what you think I'm asking."
"Oh my god. Oh. My. God." Connor breathed. "Oh my god, it's really happening. Oh my god."
"Is this a yes, then?" Kevin inquired. Connor playfully slapped him on the arm.
"Of course it's a yes, you doof." He giggled, grabbing the ring from the box and sliding it onto his finger.
"Oh, wow, Connor." Kevin sighed in relief. "I really thought you weren't going to say yes for a second."
"How could I say no when you sang me my favorite song to propose?" Connor asked, pecking Kevin on the cheek. "I love you."
Kevin wrapped his arm around Connor, leaning in close to him and whispering,"I love you more."
