Forget-me-notes

It just seemed so fitting, forget-me-notes, wasn't that everyone wish in a way? To not be forgotten, to be forever engraved in someone's memory, to be loved…Funny for something so small to be named that. It reminded him of her in a odd way.

Angry, he tried to stifle his memories of her, her image and everything about her, those two beautiful moon like eyes and her midnight tresses that framed her pale face, brought him too much grief. He breathed in the cold air and for that moment, he regretted meeting her, every coming across this girl who took his heart… His eyes darkened for an instant as he looked in to the night sky.

He could feel nothing but pain. But pain was what he had always been feeling all his life. He should be used to it. He regretted meeting this girl who brought all this unwanted emotions.

Yet if he was totally honest with himself he would admit that she had brought him more than pain. She had brought him hope, happiness even if it was only for a brief amount of time.He regretted meeting her all too late. He wanted to have known her earlier, to have spent more time with her. He regretted not spending everyday, every moment with her in his arms.

He regretted not loving her even more.

He would have given anything to have her back.

But even he could turn back time and even stop her somehow from dying she would never belong to him; she was in love with his best friend. She would never search him out with her eyes when they are in a crowd, never be the one who she would always smile at or be the person that lighted up her day. He was not Naruto Uzamaki And he never thought that he would see the day that he would envy the blonde boy.

He thought his luck may have changed when Tsunade had sent them on a A rank mission together but all that lead to was her dying in his arms. And his heart slowly breaking into many tiny unmendable pieces. Sasuke smiled bitterly.

It was an impossible mission. Too many high leveled ninjas guarding the scroll they were meant to stealing as there was only two of them. It was where they were sourrounded, and where she had died. Somehow fate would always leave him as an avenger while everyone he loved and cared for died infront of him.

He clenched his fist.

Why did his life always turn out this way? Why even when he killed Itachi, things would go wrong.

WHY?!

Rain poured down onto his bent form. Tears or raindrops, he could not tell, was sliding down his face.

He clenched the left side of his chest. He finally knew why Kakashi spends his time infront of the black, marble tomb. Because now he did so too, it was where her name was engraved.

He closed his eyes.

"love-me-not"

Those were the three word that she said to him before she left him forever. How she had known, he had no idea. But he wished that she didn't say those words to him. All he has left of her are his memories and bits and pieces of what she owned. But he could pretend. He could blur his memory between the lines of reality and dreams. And maybe, just maybe she hadn't said those three words, maybe she meant more to her words, and maybe she had meant to say something else to him and mixed them up.

"I-love-you"

-And with that thought Sasuke Uchiha smiled-
