Demyx jumped at a loud clap of thunder. The usually happy, energetic teen was sitting in his room, silver tears streaming down his face. The blonde was glad that no one was around to witness him like this. When he was around other people, he was always smiling and laughing. He always talked loud and held his head high. When he was alone however, it was a completely different story. He was grateful that his friends couldn't see that his smile was fake, his laughter forced. He was glad that they didn't know that he only talked loud to drown out the thoughts of suicide; the feelings of being so alone that constantly swam around in his head. Sometimes though, he wished they knew. He sometimes had impulses to run to Roxas or Axel or Zexion, to tell them what was going on. He never did though. He fought those impulses with everything he had. They couldn't know. They wouldn't understand.

Another flash of lightning lit up the dark room, followed by another thunder clap. Everyone else was out, hanging around the city. Demyx had been invited, but he had refused, using the excuse that he had a project to work on for school. He had finished his project weeks ago. Roxas however, had bought his lie, assured by the smile Demyx had been wearing. That smile had been fake, of course, but Roxas had thought it was real.

Demyx had lived with many sets of foster parents, but each one had had their own set of reasons why they had to give him back. Finally, after six years of being passes around, he had been adopter last year. The teen had been moved across the country to his current location. He quickly made friends to cover up the fact that he was so messed up.

Demyx had come from a broken home. It wasn't until he was ten years old that he has been removed. His biological father had been a heavy drug user and his mother an alcoholic. Both parents had been abusive towards Demyx, both physically and mentally. Being an only child, he got the full extent of his parents rage.

Another rumble of thunder brought Demyx from his thoughts. He had been so deep in thought, that he hadn't even noticed the lightning. He quickly wipes his eyes on his sleeve in an attempt to dry them, but they were wet again seconds later.

Demyx mentally cursed himself for being so weak. His biological parents and switching foster homes so many times had put the idea in his head that he wasn't good enough for anybody. He hated himself, and he thought everyone else hated him too. He didn't know why his friends were always inviting him to do stuff with them. The blonde was still trying to figure out why they were friends with him at all.

Once Demyx had actually attempted suicide. He had left a suicide note for his biological parents, but they hadn't believed that he would actually go through with it, and ignored the note. Luckily, his sister had found her blonde sibling just in time, and Demyx was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital where, miraculously, he recovered fully without a single scar.

After that, Demyx had stopped eating. He would take food so the people around him would think he was eating, but then he would throw it away when no one was looking. This came to an end when Demyx passed out in a death faint, and was taken to the hospital where, once again, he fully recovered.

The blonde hadn't tried anything since then. Demyx was once again startled out of his thoughts. This time however, it was from a loud knock on the door. Demyx looked out the window at the pouring rain, then back at the door. He quickly dried his tears and minimized the puffiness of his eyes with cover-up. Putting on yet another fake smile, he opened the door.

"You're looking happy tonight," Roxas said, no sarcasm whatsoever in his voice. Demyx nodded, and walked with Roxas down the hall, yet again faking his happiness.
