I was sitting in corner of the dark, cold alley; my leg was broken because of my parents. I was cold, tired and scared. I should be scared for a reason, because; it's a new moon night tonight. I tried to get myself hidden incase my drunken parents even find me and take me back home to break another bone in my seven year old body. It was 9:45 p.m. That was time for the lights outside of Canalave city were supposed to go out. One by one the street lights went out. Now, the whole city was bitch black. I couldn't see a thing, the moon wasn't seen so I couldn't see what was going on by using the moon's light.

Suddenly, I heard someone or something calling my name.

"Chloe…" it said again.

My light blue eyes widened. I thought it was my parents that found me and were trying to scare me.

Then I saw something coming towards me. I stood still incase it was one of my parents.

It was now ten feet away from were I was. It was getting clearer and clearer. It had red teeth like necklace around its neck, white smoke like hair, lifeless light blue eye and a body that's darker than the night sky.

"Darkrai…" I thought to myself.

He was getting closer and closer to me. I wanted to scream, but something is keeping me from doing it.

Now he was right in front of me. I closed my eyes so I won't see what will happen to me. I was expecting an ice cold hand grabbing my chest and the other one would go threw my body and yank out my soul. But instead, I felt a warm soft hand on my shoulder. I opened my eyes and saw his gentle light blue eyes. He gently picked me up and held me in his warm arms. Then he looked around and was carrying me somewhere. I looked around to figure out where we're going. We were going so fast that I couldn't see what we were passing, but I knew we were still in Canalave City. I saw some people with frighten faces as they saw Darkrai carrying me.

Suddenly I noticed we were hovering over water now and were higher and higher in the air. I clenched my hands on his arms tighter. He looked down at me, knowing that I was scared and slowly went back on top of the water. I smiled and was trying to keep myself awake so I won't have nightmares. But my eyelids were getting heavy and I was slowly drifting to sleep.

When I woke up, I was on a small garden like island in the middle of endless darkness. I looked around the small garden and only saw gray plants, grass and flowers. Curious, I looked around to see everything; I noticed the place the grass I was standing on turned leafy green. When I looked over, I saw a dead gray flower. When I touched it, its gray color turned into a bloody red rose.

It suddenly came to me. I put both of my small hands to the ground and put a little pressure on it. And at that moment a leafy green color started to spread across the small garden. All the gray colors were gone and were replaced with green lush trees and plants.

I felt something soft, warm and light placed on me. My eyes slowly opened and a blanket was laying on me. I woke up on a small island, with nobody here, not even one single pokemon was here, just me in a creepy old forest.

I was lying against something. I looked up and saw Darkrai looking down at me like he was waiting for me to wake up.

Something was glinting in his hands. He lowered his hand and showed a ruby amulet.

In my thoughts I heard someone said: As long as you wear that ruby amulet, I'll always keep you safe.

Tears formed in my eyes. Then I did something I thought that will never happen in my life. "I already feel safe with you." I said giving him a hug.

And this is where my story begins.
