Once up a time there was a girl named Hermione Granger, who wished more
than anything to fall in love. And yet, in the race between school and
matters of the heart, love always came in last. So that is where our story
begins, late one night in the Gryffindor common room, Hermione all by
herself once again, staring out the window into a snowy night.
Winter had come upon the castle quickly this year, and tonight it looked exactly like one of the snow globes kept up on the shelves of tourist shops. The many, many windows glowed golden against the black night sky, fresh white snow spread across the grounds like frosting on a cake.
Hermione sat alone on a window seat, a warm crimson blanket wrapped around her shoulders, her cinnamon eyes looking back and forth from the book in her lap and the grounds outside the window. She felt so much like she was a part of the snow storm right now. Like a snow flake, Hermione was unique and beautiful, but does one ever look at just a single flake of snow? No, and that was how it was with people too. She was washed in with everyone else, simply a part of a bigger picture.
With a discontented sigh, Hermione closed the book in her hands with a soft 'thunk' and stood. Her skirt now hung in wrinkled folds down past her knee, her white shirt crooked. Taking a few slow steps, her feet crossing back and forth, Hermione made her way up to the stairs and stood there silently. Her hand rested on the banister, mouth open slightly like there was something she wished to say. The silence pressed in around her, begging her to say something, to fill the gap. Looking across the room out the window one more time, Hermione gasped quietly as a star fell out of the sky. Weren't you supposed to wish on falling stars? Yes, she knew you were. And this is what she said:
"I wish I may, I wish I might, Have the wish I wish tonight.
I wish...that someone could...no, would...love me. If wish someone would love me like I could love them."
With a slight smile, Hermione turned slowly on her heel and ran up the stairs to her bed, feeling lighter than she had in a long, long time. And that night her dreams came gently to her, tempting her with a love that might soon be.
Now that is where our story truly begins, with Hermione Granger and a wish that might come true.
Author- Ambrosia2 Publishing Date: April 26, 2004 Authors Note: I really hope you enjoyed the story. I know its extremely short, so I'll work to make the next chapters longer. This story IS going to be a Hermione/Draco romance, and that will all start soon enough.
