Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who or anything related.
AN: I just loved this episode and I loved that moment when Donna hears the song, so I had to write about it. It's a bit angsty, but I hope you enjoy it none the less.
The Song
It was so pure. So raw and so haunting, she couldn't bear it anymore. Every note carried a weight of sadness to her ears, and left its imprint on her heart. It was too much. If not for the pain laced within the melody, she would have called it beautiful. But it was beautiful. Each note and chord was strung together in perfect harmony. The pain, the fear they felt was so evident and tragic. How could humanity do such a thing? She could not believe her own kind would cause so much torment, would cause this song. She has to right her own kinds wrong. Please take it away she says.
"You can still hear it."
He can always hear it he tells her. Its poignant harmony strikes a cord within his hearts and it hurts. It's endless. How does sadness carry such a beautiful tune? Then he remembers what's causing their grief. With that knowledge he loses his faith in humanity. He forgets momentarily as to why he loves this race so much. Then he looks at her and her fiery spirit. And he realizes that there is no hope to be lost, his faith can be restored. The song continues to haunt his mind and he remembers these creatures from ages before. He owes them one.
