You and Dan always had fights. Having been together for nearly three years you kind of expected that things would not be plain sailing all the time. Mostly you fought over the stupid things; the kind of things that you would forgive after five minutes, kiss and make up, then spend the next four hours losing terribly at Mario kart. But this time it was different. You'd never cried to your brother Phil about anything before but this time you couldn't stop the tears as you sobbed into his arms on your bedroom floor. It was hard for you to do this because Phil was not just your brother; he was Dan's best friend. While they still made dorky videos about their lives in the confines of their rooms, they had a radio show now. And they were getting more popular every day.
That's probably why you had gotten so mad.
Dan was your first everything: your first date, first kiss, first boyfriend, first… well… you get the idea. You were practically inseparable but since he got the radio gig you hardly saw him anymore. Whenever you tried to arrange something, he'd bumble his way through some excuse about having to brainstorm ideas for the show or he'd cancel last minute, telling you he had to make some last minute changes to the script for his new video which was already three days late.
After you dried your eyes and Phil left, you decided to take a walk.
You knew the place you were going all too well and as you passed the overgrown plants and rotting fallen trees it was hard to believe this was where it all began. No one else knew about this place, just you and Dan, and that was what made it so special.
You decided to sit next to the river taking in the surrounding view and the memories came rushing back.
Dan was really nervous. He sat next to you and kept shuffling awkwardly on the blanket you had laid out and you could see the panic in his eyes as he tried to decide what to do. "I'm really sorry I just… I really like you… Oh god this is going so bad" He said putting his head in his hands. You couldn't help but smile. You'd never seen Dan like this before. You moved closer to him so that your sides were now touching. You pulled his hands from his face and took hold of one, interlocking your fingers. This was the first time you'd held his hand. "I think this is going rather well." You whispered, resting your head on his shoulder.
Returning to the cold reality hurt like a blade to the heart. You yearned for those times. Those little adventures you had before Dan has told his fans about your relationship and it was only now that you realized how stupid you'd been. You knew he loved you and you were an idiot to think that he loved you any less because he was so busy.
"I thought I'd find you here."
You look over your shoulder to see Dan stood there in that stupid moth shirt that you really wanted to burn. "I guess this is still our place huh?"
You got to your feet and ran to him throwing your arms around him spewing apologies for everything you could possibly think of and he silenced you with a kiss on the lips.
"You don't have to be sorry for anything" he whispered.
He placed his hands on the sides of your face and kissed you once more.
