"Nyu, nyu!"
Tai ignored the chirping of the cheery digimon as best as he could. Nearly impossible since the baby digimon was snuggling into his stomach.
Kari giggled, "He likes you!"
"A little too much if you ask me." Agumon grumbled.
Tai rolled his eyes, dropping his sight down towards the infant, "Why? Just….why?"
"Maybe he's like a bird?" Kari suggested. Tai raised an eyebrow, "You mean that the first thing he's sees he assumes is his parent?" Tai answered.
"Yep."
"Would explain some things." He confessed a tad bit embarrassed by the revelation, even more so when Kari started laughing at him.
"Nyu?" Lumon stared up at him questionably. He sighed, rubbing Lumon's head, "It's nothing."
Lumon purred, leaning into the touch.
"I wonder why he came to you." Kari asked, watching her brother and Lumon.
Tai stared at the child wondering the same thing. Out of all the people and digimon the egg could have appeared to, it came to him.
Lumon had stopped purring, deciding, instead to once again stare up at him, his yellow eyes burning like fire, blazing like the sun. An odd feeling overcame Tai, one he was unable to explain, but had a great effect on him.
'The sun,' Tai observed, 'His eyes are like the sun.'
Lumon blinked and hopped into Kari's waiting arms, "Nyu!"
As soon as Lumon bounced away, Tai snapped out of whatever trance that had overcome him back into reality.
'That was weird.' He thought, eyes suddenly wary of the black bundle of joy dancing around the living room. The suspicion quickly vanished as Lumon again jumped into his lap and away from the playful grabs from Kari.
"Oi oi, watch it!"
"Sorry Tai!"
Said boy sighed. Why did it feel like raising that little digimon was gonna be more trouble than it was worth? As if he didn't have enough problems now. Just add a hyper ball of digital fun and there goes any chance of normality down the drain.
Ah who was he kidding, as if his life was anywhere near normal after being stranded in the digital world.
Tai watched in amusement as Lumon, with the stealth and speed of a ninja, quickly snatched a piece of chocolate from an unsuspecting Agumon and bolted out of the room with high-pitched chirping.
"Hey that's mine!" Agumon shouted after him.
"Nyu~!" Lumon chirped again.
Was it just him or did the chirping sound almost smug?
"Nyu! Nyu nyu nyu!" the baby squeaked while ducking another pass from Agumon. It was surprisingly funny how hilarious watching a rookie-level digimon try and fail at catching a new-born creature was. Kari thought so too, as she was laughing along with him.
Lumon shot back into the room with the speed of a bullet, launching itself back into its favorite napping area. Namely Tai's lap.
It yawned and the sunny orbs that were its eyes closed, breathing softly as it fell asleep.
Kari giggled at the current situation, to which Tai rolled his eyes.
Maybe this wasn't so bad after all. How many times does one get to see their digimon humiliated by another at the first stage of life. While Tai did feel somewhat sorry for his partner, it was just too funny to pass up.
My biggest problem with writing digimon stories is the fact I forget about the digimon themselves. Ugh, now you know why in "The One That Appeared" the digimon didn't have a very big role in it. Sorry, forgot to write them in.
Hey look! This story has an actual plot! Hahaha, sorry. This is how I wanted my story to go earlier, just….well, didn't want to have what 4 multi-chapter stories? Eh, screw that then. I'm posting this!
