Everyday seemed like race to see if he could get to the good part the fastest. She mocked him because of his tendency to get up before the sunrise, yet during those early hours, all he could think about was her sleeping, peacefully in her bed... wondering if she ever dreamed a dream with him. He couldn't tell her, she was always down about the next guy to come and break her. For the first time in his life he found the talent to hold back his emotions, for the sake of not giving her more. She thinks he's such a crab, a loner, an Ebeneezer Scrooge. She doesn't realize he only acts that way because of fear of losing it in front of the person he needed to stay alive daily. He'll pour a million cups of coffee to watch her drink one.
Five years ago, he didn't feel this way. She was a nuisance, arrogant, stubborn, pretty? Yes, of course, but he could live. Back then. Not until the day when he realized he couldn't live without her. It was a miracle day, he couldn't believe it took him this long. It's not like she did anything different. She'd been seeing the guy for a while now, they were getting serious. He had Rachel. But, then when Rachel left him, not for another man for her, but another girl, for him. She got his attention with that one. But Luke Dane's is a patient guy. He'll wait, and waited he did. She was just suprised that the mother who got a girl into Harvard, Princeton, and Yale, couldn't realize how a guy felt about her after soo many years.
Well, as they say, one day can change your life.
He had it all planned out, well sort of. All he had to do was show up. And be suave and handsome and the definition of perfection. That was him though, right? Heh, no. Everything was going right, she was smiling, acting a little loopier than usually. Luke granted himself most of the credit for that. Then, waiting for a moment alone with her, he runs into him. Apparently the person she's been seeing for the past 6 months or so. They talk, apparently they're 'perfect for each other'. What crap. Lorelai can't fall for a guy who says stuff like that. He couldn't believe it, he's never been this mad before, this kind of mad. The kind of mad where you can't help but not ignore it. The kind of mad where you want to yell at the person, and make them feel horrible but at the same time let them explain, and no matter what kind of excuse they make, kiss them anyway. He wanted her that bad.
He finds her, she's still out of the know. They argue, she denies everything. She makes it seem like she wants him. Really? He's not going to question it. He takes a step towards her.
"What are you doing?" What does she think he's doing? Seriously?
"Just stand still!" He couldn't say anything else to make her understand, he had to do.
It's like magic, like he's supposed to be doing this all along. It's amazing. Then it ends, and he can't help but wonder why. It was a little overwhelming, but…
She takes a step towards him.
What is she doing? "What are you doing?"
"Will you just stand still?"
She gets it.
