Lucy clutched the paper tightly. It was a mission that had been left for days, Happy finally handing it to them impatiently as though he had been guarding it on the billboard. She read it's sloppy writing hastily.
"60,000 Jewel! You guys, this is crazy!" Natsu yelled out, causing Lucy to jump upwards and lose her balance. Natsu caught her and held her up until she regained her position, giving him a hard yet forgiving glare. Natsu laughed apologetically, and repeated more quietly. "I mean, uh...60,000 Jewel, guys. That's crazy!" He pointed to the sloppily written pay count at the bottom. "We need this job!"
Erza sighed. "What even is it fo-"
"Apparently, all we have to do is take some old stone in order to stop an oncoming war between all of the Guilds- or, at least, 4 of them from what it seems. Things have been tense, and i seems the gemstone is made for protection and peace shortly after the first confrontation. We're getting paid to rob a place and keep all proceeds to ourselves!" Lucy explained, soon after becoming overjoyed with her thinking about it. She fixed her hair as it was blown by a scoff from Gray.
"Stone of Peace? I'll believe it when I see it." Gray snarled after the light scoff. "There's no way that will exist. And what war? Tensions have been high, what more evidence do we have?" He was met with a sharp glare from Natsu.
"Got any more reasons not to keep it for when a war does happen, droopy eyes?" Spat the sneering dragon slayer, eyes ablaze with inner flames. He went head-to-head with Gray, fists balled up and fire crackling from his palms, though hidden.
"Not any more than you probably do, sweaty magic." Came the response from the dark-haired ice wizard. The continued to warble incoherent insults at eachother until they were hushed by a simple glare from a tired-of-your-shit Erza, who turned back to Lucy.
"I think it's a good idea, but got any more info?"
"Just that it seems that it's been cursed for millions of years- the temple this stone is in- and that there's a lot of traps. It's safe that we go in pairs when exploring the more suspicious are-"
"Then it seems that it would be a good idea to go in pairs during the explorations of more suspicious areas." Gray explained.
"Hey, Lucy was going to say that first. You cut her off, bitchy resting face!" Natsu snarled, only to again be interrupted by Erza's glares and a grunt from her too. They locked arms with each other and danced like they had been comrades their whole life until she looked away, where they turned away from each other.
"Well, yeah, that. We should leave early tomorrow if we want fast travels. So many merchants in this town!" Lucy said.
The team disbanded after discussing plans for the dangerous temple mission, and soon after they were asleep in their own homes, having pacjed right after they got home.
