Dear Buttercup, I was torn on whether or not I wanted to write a sequel to "Under the Same Stars" as the ending may or may not have left you hanging. My problem was lack of a prompt. If you have a prompt from how they got from there to here, I'd love to hear it and would probably write it.

"If I could fall in love" by Lenny Kravitz, supplied the title and I've highlighted the lines in my story.

AU of course, and I have no claim to the song or the characters.

If I Could Fall in Love

Carolyn stared at her reflection, contemplating her continued existence, as she sat in front of the vanity, her maid pinning her hair up into a respectable semblance of order.

He had come for her immediately after, offering her his protection, a place by his side. She, who had nowhere to go, no family to turn to, her only connection to any previous life gone.

The sound of Jack's lifeless body hitting the floor and the gurgling noise of the former Dame Vaako's blood as she clutched at her throat, Riddick standing tall over her body, still woke her in the middle of the night, causing her to reach for his pale cool skin with a gasp, twining her fingers through his black braids.

He was the only one in a sea of undead who understood her loss.

He entered their chambers dismissing the maid with a wave as he came to stand behind her, his battle roughened fingers tracing the scars on each side of her neck.

He leaned down whispering in her ear, "I'll never know how you found the strength to deal with a man like me. I don't think I'd be that strong."

Reaching up, she covered his hands with hers before raising her eyes to meet his in the mirror. "If I could fall in love again, I'd fall in love with you."

The end.
